A daughter from very land lord family got married with farmer who had enough land for livelihood. Her father was dead when she was child. Her uncle took the responsibility of elder brother’s family. She had also younger sister who was also got married with educated boy from landlord family. Unfortunately, after some years that family lost their wealth due mismanagement of head of family. They had fairly good economic condition. But her elder sister was quite happy and wealthy. she had elder daughter and younger son. Their grand mother used to go to their grandson’s home regularly. But she had more affection towards family of younger daughter as she hadn’t  very sound economic condition. Both the families were making their progress as per their prevailing conditions.

Daughter of elder sister got married as she attended the age of marriage. Her husband was an employee in the electricity board. A newly married couple was happy. After few years her younger son also got married. Mother was expecting the grandson from his son. Whole family was eager to have the lamp of house. Unfortunately, her son couldn’t had any baby for long period from his wife.. There was always hard talk between mother and daughter –in-law as hot pot never boils . It was their routine habit. Their quarrelling habit raised to such extend that her daughter-in-law left her home and went her father’s home for ever. She declared through some known sources that she wouldn’t come back till her mother –in-law live. The situation had gone out of hand. Family was in hot water. Her husband made some effort to bring his wife back to his home. He was unsuccessful in his mission.

It was just period of few decades after independence. The people was not aware of Indian laws. Although they were living in free India, but their general behavior was like in the past. They took it for granted that their daughter –in-law would not come back. So they decided to get re-married their son as per exciting pattern in the society without consulting any lawyer. Newly married couple was happy and they blessed with two kids soon. Grand mother was very happy due to this new development. This good news was reached to his first wife. She approached to the court to challenge his husband second marriage as per existing Indian law. She was on right track. Her decision was as right as rain in front of law. Either he should had written permission for second marriage from her or would had asked the divorce with her. Although he was innocent but he was trapped in law. He was found guilty in the eye of law. That court case was being continued for so many years. His financial condition was getting worst and worst with time. Looking at son’s worst days, his parent was expired one by one in succession. When the case came for final hearing before the judge, judge heard the both side and gave verdict that he had to continue her monthly alimony till her death and she had also equal right in his property.

He was already grown up poor and poor due to this court case. She was not at all ready at any cost to give him divorce. She appealed in high court for justice. Case still continue at his old age. His economic condition totally collapsed. No doubt ,ignorance is bliss. But in this story , her mother’s hungriness’ for grandson was turn out to be fatal for her son. Second illegal marriage cost the bomb and mental unrest to him for ever. Haste makes waste. if he had taken the guidance of doctor for baby, he would had better solution. If they were not able to give birth to their baby, then he would have asked permission to his first wife legally. But due to ignorance and ego of his mother , he faced that worst, miserable situation. He was just like a fish out water. If his first wife disagreed second wife proposal, he would have gone for divorce as per law. Court might have agreed in that situation. Ignorance of law and unused practical use of science facilities put whole family members in dark.
