The sun was about to set. People were rushing towards the railway station. Some people were waiting for their respective trains. Some people were arriving at the station. There was a huge rush at this time.
The summer has come. Most of the migrants from other states were leaving their working places to go to their natives for a few days. Krishna is also one of them. He was going home after around one year. He has brought new clothes for his younger brother and his parents. He has saved a few thousand of money repair his house. This time, he will stay for four months. His phone rang while he was thinking about all of this. His brother called him, "Dada"! It's Durga Puja, so make sure you stay for a few months. Krishna assured his brother that he would stay.
Krishna is very religious. Being a Hindu, he has practised and promoted the Hindu religion whenever he gets a chance, from sharing WhatsApp statuses to posting many pictures. His activeness on social media is proof that he is very religious. Through his tilak on his forehead and red thread on his wrist, he identifies himself as a proud Hindu. But, others identify him as a Hindu Fundamentalist. Because, like many teenagers, he also thinks that whatever problems exist in India, Muslims are mainly responsible for them. He also thinks that all Muslims should go to Pakistan.
The train arrived at the station. It's the Yashwanthpur-Hawrah express. There was a rush in the general compartment. Anyhow, he could get a seat. He took his luggage and adjusted himself. It's a long-distance journey. So he has to be careful about his luggage because there is a fear of theft. The train was moving towards its destination. The sky appeared to be playing Holi in red. It was looking so beautiful. From the window, he was enjoying the view, and the inside happiness of going home was making him happier. In that compartment, many people are like him. They were also working in the same city. He talked with them. Everyone has the same story of struggle and happiness. Some people were near his village, and hence the conversation extended to many topics. From their works, politics, religion, and many more.
The train was crossing station after station. Krishna's happiness at going home was multiplying while it was crossing each station. At a high speed, the train was going by, gulping the darkness, as a hungry tiger runs for his prey.
It was evening, and the rush inside the compartment was increasing. People were boarding the train at almost every station. Everyone was busy with the snacks they had carried with them. Krishna also opened his bag and ate something while looking out the window. A few kids were there who were playing with their siblings, and some were crying. There was so much noise inside. Krishna was feeling like roaming in his village fair.
After a while, there was a huge sound like a bomb blast inside the train, and the train's speed became slower. He couldn't guess anything. People were shouting. He couldn't guess the place, either. Because there was so much darkness inside and outside the train. Only he could see small dot-like lights in the faraway villages. Suddenly, everyone started rushing. The collision among people was going on. He felt like the train had hit something. He was so frightened. He wanted to come out, but his leg had been trapped in something. He could see the flood of blood inside the train. He couldn't imagine the situation. It's not more than a nightmare. Some people have fallen unconscious. His leg was hurting like hell. He cried aloud and shouted as much as he could for help. But no one was there. He couldn't see the thing that was happening in front of his eyes. People were dying. He was also totally wet with blood. He was not able to think or do anything in that condition. As if he were watching the death from no distance. While watching these things, he became unconscious.
When Krishna opened his eyes, he found himself in a hospital bed. He was astonished that he was alive. He pinched himself. His body was so feeble. He couldn't even get up from his bed. His leg was heavily injured. He turned to his side and saw a guy giving blood to him.
After a moment, slowly, he asked,
Bhaiya, aap ka naam kya hai ?
(Brother, what is your name?)
That guy replied,
Mera naam Sajid Khan.
(My name is Sajid Khan)
After hearing his name, Krishna turned straight (as in his previous position). He became silent for a while. Two drops of tears fell from his eyes. While lying on the bed, he was remembering his act of hate against Muslims, for which he was feeling guilty.
He was realizing that,
"It's not religion; it's humanity that can save human life."
