Humanity On Ventilator In Kashmir

My uncle, Muhammad Maqbool Malik was seriously ill during Covid-19 pandemic in 2019. He had suffered from fever, cough and flue. He had many friends and relatives. But they scared to visit him because they felt that he might have Covid-19 Symptoms.

He looked so forlorn in a small room that its four walls became his true comrades whom he expressed his assertive emotions. He was laid down in a room for four months.

To him those four months were the forty years of his life. What he had not learned in forty years that he just learnt in four months inside a room. The room was the world of his own in which he experienced many things. It had two doors that seemed to him as the door to hell and the door to paradise. Nothing was left in favors of him but a small ray of hope.

Whenever I went my uncles home, I would meet him. I also massaged his body so as to release the pain. I was the one who prayed his speedy recovery; even I forgot to wear a mask in front of him. He always smiled at me and concealed his agonies. I could guess his eyes and tears that he never dropped but had a mystery behind!

What is the current situation in Kashmir as well as in the world? asked I carefully.

He answered me in frail voice in the following words:

The valley of Kashmir is called as Rishwaer or Pirwaer, the valley of Rishis. What happened to this pirwear? How much famous it was O lord? Kashmir was known by its discipline, civilization, culture, brotherhood, peace, humanity, manners, humility, modesty and God-consciousness - all fashioned by God to the people of Kashmir. It was the epicenter of love and hospitality, all Communities: the Muslims, the Sikhs, the Hindus, the Buddhists and the Christians lived unanimously with zest, passion and hope. They helped with each other in every field; even mostly they participated to marriage ceremonies, construction of houses and Religious festivals. Moreover, at the time of natural catastrophes, they shared their miseries and prayed to God according to their religious principles.

O lord! What happened to this Pirwaer?

Eventually it disappears and is not as it was. The torch of knowledge and wisdom inclined by Rishis or Sayyids are lost. Because all good qualities and moral values has been looted and distorted .Oh, man you were titled as The crown of creation. Your duty was to watch over the bounties of nature and share them equitably. How arrogant you are, O man! Why you became a beast? How long shall you dwell in ignorance! Now, you gobble humans. Owing of your cruel and shameful activities Mankind has died!

Indeed, what he said was all right. I hardly believed at his changing tone, his knowledge and his art of describing situations.

I remembered Sir Muhammad Iqbal who rightly said:

It is better to be a human being than an angel, but it takes enough efforts.

O lord! What happened to this Pirwaer? All people of whether men or women are responsible for this disintegration in Kashmir. We run for materialistic and worldly things and thus, forget our Hereafter.

This life is the test for hereafter. What we earn and what we will be rewarded? As the matter of fact, man has forgotten the death, and he doesn’t know that he has to answer before Allah . Mehjoor once argued:

“I look like a human being but I am unaware and far from humanity.”

“When a human is ill, no one is with him except Almighty Allah, who hears quickly our cries.

O man! You were nectar of knowledge but he chosen to be a `fire. You are callous, put humanity to disgrace. You were the builder of nation but you became a viper.

Yes, uncle, we must remember our lord all the time, I remember the Hadith our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) that:

“One who does not mercy to others, Allah will never mercy to him.”

“Oh, my lovely nephew, you are so innocent” he said to me. And he continued:

“The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was sent as the mercy for the whole humanity. We should be merciful to all creatures. Now, we became the victim of deadly disease named Covid-19 because of our bad deeds. It is pandemic all over the world. Lets talk about our Kashmir and shouldn't bother of world. It is said, Charity begins at home In Kashmir it becomes a cut-throat business. Now a day, Kashmir lost humanity, hospitality and neighborhood owing to the Covid-19.

What about the common flue people have? I am confused still; I don't know what will happen. Said I

In Kashmir a person, who has a normal flu; he is taken into ambulance like an Eagle snatches pullet. This topsy-turvy situation is everywhere especially in Kashmir. He is taken in a padded Cell. He is given mere food and no accurate treatment. He is left as animals for grazing .While the doctors or organizers take full benefits of such a situation. The more Covid-19 cases you have, the more money you will get. We don't know whether it is a biological war or it is a plague or it is a hoax. Only Allah (ﷻ) knows the best. The family members who are in quarantine, no one takes care of them. Even no phone call is being made. People disliked entering their home. Therefore, the relationship ends gradually. Today, medical science says that after person’s death, his all illness ends. But no proper funeral pray is being preformed, and some among them are buried into canals or ditches. May have mercy O Lord! May have mercy O Lord! A few people perform their religious duties in Mosques, Temples, Churches, Gurdwaras and other Religious institutions. We see play grounds are open for entertainment. People enjoy in the playgrounds, marriage ceremonies and parties with no preventions. But when they are supposed to go to the Mosques, they start wearing masks and some of them giving reasons to avoid prayer in the mosques. It is said prevention is better than cure. But that doesn't mean we should avoid mosques. Regarding the social distance, I think it means aloofness; it means shun from love, hospitality, unity and livelihood. We need to avoid the physical distance instead of Social distance.

O lord! What happened to this Pirwaer? What we were asked to do? We don't do and what we were not asked to do? We do. O man! Why you changed your appearance? You became the hungry for wealth. This lust for wealth is a big disease than Covid-19. Take a lesson from animals or birds that never change from their destinations. The sun, the moons and the stars are same as they were. The sun rises and sets, the moon gives reflected light and the stars shine brightly.

Alas! Why you went astray? You must repent for their sins; still you have opportunity to Change O man! Allah (ﷺ) will not change the Conditions of the people until they change themselves. You need the treatment for your soul ‘O man! Wake up, O man; wake up of your deep slumber. Be down to the earth and do good deeds. InshAllah, this disease will be vanished very soon.”

My uncle learned a lot during his illness. With his firm faith on Allah, he was healthy and well. At last my uncle advised to me:

“Covid-19 is a bad life partner with multiple faces and will never show his real face. So the best is to cheat and avoid him completely."
