How a vision board can change your life

How a vision board can change your life

How a vision board can change your life.

I started my very first vision board when I started to find my voice back in 2008. I was watching Oprah and she was talking about having a vision board. She spoke about putting out to the universe what you wanted, what you wanted to attract. You know the whole "secret" thing in which you put out what you want to get back, so I decided to try it.

If you follow me, you know that I am a huge Oprah fan. I ran a marathon because she did, I walked on fire because she did, I read all the books she did, so of course this was a no brainer. I was on a mission to break free from my horrible marriage and if this was going to help, hell, I was going to try it.

At that point I was willing to do just about anything to get out of there.

So I bought a canvas and I started with a quote that said "2008 is your year!"

I then cut out quotes that touched me or inspired me, things I wanted to inspire to or be like and I glued them on there as well.

Things like:

You can do it.

You are fearless

Have faith

Never give up hope

Believe

Then I cut out pictures of what I wanted my new home to look like. Even though I was still stuck in this marriage, I knew that soon I was going to break free and this gave me the motivation to work towards that goal.

I put up pictures of furniture, paintings, whatever I wanted to see in my new home. I had pictures of my couch I wanted, my dining room set I wanted, what I wanted for the bedroom, all glued up there.

I then placed places I would love to visit, Greece, California, Hawaii, Paris, Italy, and Egypt.

Then I went to what I wanted to manifest in my career and finances, I had a picture of Oprah,of course! Because I always wanted to be a speaker on her show, Super Soul Sunday. I had a picture of a book that I wanted to write that said New York Times best seller, I had pictures of public speakers I'd admired and wanted to be like. I even had Tyler Perry because I want him to produce my life story into a movie. Yes! If you are going to dream, why dream small honey, dream big! Dream huge!

I put pictures of the home on the water I wanted, pictures of money, pictures of my church and the things I would do for them when I hit it big.

I put pictures of healthy people in love. I had relaxing pictures that brought me peace and joy when I looked at them.

I put up bible quotes, I put up quotes about love and loving myself, whatever touched me and what I wanted to see each and every day.

Then I put it over my washer and dryer since I was always in there by myself (No one helps with the laundry and I'd have peace in there to sit and invision my new life) I would stand there for hours washing and folding clothes while starting and seeing what my life was going to look like, be like. I could actually feel it, sometimes the feeling of freedom was so real to me, it made me cry. At night as I went to sleep I didn't think of what I needed to do the next day, no! I was walking through my new home, I was envisioning parties and friends, music and laughter.

I saw myself on stage at the Women of Faith tour. I saw the life I wanted so desperately just as I was already living it.

I knew without a shadow of a doubt that all these things were going to come to pass. Yes, my ex gave me crap about it, some friends laughed at me but it never diminished my belief in what I wanted, in what was possible if I believed.

Imagine when I finally moved out and got my own place, it ended up looking just like my vision board? Not only that, I prayed for a house to rent yet God's plans were way bigger than mine and I got a home 40k below market value! Won't he do it? Yes. He will.

I became what I posted, strong, independent, filled with joy and peace.

I've started speaking in public, I not only published one book but two. I am blogging 5 days a week on 7 different sites to help others. I have traveled to many of these places, and now feel like the quotes I placed on there and I am filled with joy and at peace.

Every year me and my girls make a new vision board. Some things change, others I keep putting up because I realize that it's on God's time not mine and maybe I am not ready for certain things yet.

Just like I had to stay an additional 4 years in my marriage, maybe he needs a little more time for things like my NY Times best-selling book but I have faith because he never failed me yet..

I am looking forward to the rest of my things on my board to come to pass and am working on yet another one with bigger and better things. I still have my very first vision board, to remind me of what is possible, to show me to never give up even when it seems like you're waiting forever for something or someone.

So today my friends, my advice to you is to put out there what you want, what you expect to happen. Envision it like all the super athletes do, like you are actually there and it has already happened to you.

And never stop believing that it will come to pass even if it seems it's not working just hold on and believe that it will come, that's all, simple as that!

I am living proof that "you can be the change you want to see"
