Heartburn

Heartburn

Ah! The burst of aromas still assails my senses!

Tongue starts salivating merely thinking of those days when my favorite food arrived at the table.

I'll keep you guessing right till the end so let me start by describing it. Creamy, with a thick consistency, cooked in steam. Marinated in yogurt, salt, mustard paste, with chopped coriander sprinkled over it. Then carefully packed win banana leaves, with toothpicks to hold it tight within.

The first time it was introduced to my palate, I nearly died with the first bite...soft, tender, flaky till the end. Save and alone the bones that needed to extract, "Bhapa Hilsa" went down with great finesse. Now if you are a Bengali you would have at some point enjoyed it. I'm sorry vegetarians will never know the taste of this fish dish that remains my favorite!

This kumbukt age doesn't allow me to eat it, now that I'm old and suffer from heartburn. No..no antacid can help!!
