One week of my college had already passed and it wasn't exciting for me. I was unable to get selected in a medical college even after trying thrice and was no other way out than changing my career, thus got admission in BIT MESRA for the course of BBA.

The building was still full of strangers and I was late for my class as usual. When I entered the class, a new girl was sitting just behind my seat. One of my friend, Priya (very helpful by nature) from a small group that usually builds up automatically just because you sit near to each other, introduced me to that new girl and said that we both share a similar past. I asked Priya, "How come?" Priya replied, "She is also a bio student like you and has dropped two years for medical." I smiled at her and asked her name, it was Uzma Nikhat. Yes, you read it correct. She was a Muslim. But religions and castes are something that have always remained out of my understanding. So she also became a part of that small group.

Personally, I didn't use to like her much because she seemed to me quite disdainful. Days passed by and boring lectures continued as usual, but something happened in my life that made me really excited about my college days. I now started waiting daily for the next day of the college whenever I returned from the college. And something was none other than Uzma herself. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Before I met her, in fact, it would be more correct, if I say, before I came to know her, I always used to be gloomy and used to cry because of my past. But now I was full of enthusiasm and zeal. I learnt from her how to be happy with the present and how to let things go.

The reader must be wondering now how that disdainful person became the best thing of my life. Let me cite a short example of how was she different from others. I once won a blogging competition in my college and everybody congratulated me. All were asking me for the treat as I won but it was only Uzma who gave me the treat and she justified this kind act by saying that the treat is because she was so proud of me and was extremely happy for my win.

This may sound silly but it helped me to realize that you do not become friends because you worship same God or because you follow the same religion, but you become friends because you both stand beside each other every day. Also one should know how to purely devote oneself into this relationship of friendship.

To be a friend is also as hard as to be a father or a mother as you are required to be present all the time for the others in need. And Uzma, she definitely won this title from my side and it's going way too hard for me to live without her once the college days end.
