I was in 6th grade when we first met. It was an ordinary day. As it was the beginning of the academic year, we had some new students. I don't exactly remember the date, but as far as I recall, it was in June when he arrived in town. That morning, our class teacher introduced us to a new student named Druve. I was an introvert and didn’t have any conversation with him on his first day. The day went by as usual for me.

In the evening, I went to the garden to play with my friends. It was then that I heard something about him. One of my friends said, "That new boy was acting extra smart on his very first day. I asked his name, and he made a joke of me." I just listened silently to the conversation. Another friend commented, "We should help him and befriend him since he’s new to the school."

After a week, in the evening, we had our usual school

conversation when one of my friends said, "Yaar, I would never be the new boy’s friend. He doesn’t suit me."

After hearing him, I was confused. The person who wanted to befriend him is now refusing to help him... what is so different about that new kid?

I will someday find out...

This one desire of mine changed my life completely. I wonder what my life would have been like if I hadn't made up my mind to befriend him.

As I mentioned before, I was an introvert, so I obviously didn’t talk to him directly. In fact, we became friends after a year. You may wonder, "What? A year?" But let me tell you, that’s me. I remembered the desire the whole year but wasn’t sure if it was a good decision.

But today, without a doubt, I can say he was one of those friends I never wanted to lose my entire life.
