My father has returned from onsite in Jan 2020. We were all excited and my sister and me were thrilled to reunite with our father after 2 long years. By Jan 27th 2020 I read in the news paper that corona on rise in foreign countries and they were in lockdown. I wondered "what is lockdown? why lockdown is needed for a virus which has similar symptoms has common cold?".

I was going to school happily in Feb 2020 and enjoying time with my family and friends. In March 2020 I read in news paper that it has spread to India as well. Then the fear began. It was mid of march I was just preparing for my annual exams the news came saying schools are shut down as this dreadly virus is spreading very fast. It was both pain and pleasure. Pain is that I could not meet my friends at school and pleasure is that holidays started.

I got to know from newspapers that it was worse than evil witch or warlock. First few days we loved it as if the vaccation started . Then it was a complete lockdown by end of march 2020. Then slowly feeling of lonliness started. I couldn't meet my friends ,couldn`t play with them, crack a joke with them. I started missing good old days of laughter by April 2020. But my parents bought me story books to read. Then story books have become a real companion. That was the time I got to know about story mirror. I love reading and writing storries and poems. Story mirror gave me a good platform to express my thoughts and create my own story lines. I take this occassion to Thank story mirror for giving me this oppourunity to expose my talent.

Though it had a great impact on Earth,I personally feel that I got a good time to spend with my parents and sister. During lockdown days my father used to say many stories and share his experiences and we all used to eat lunch and dinner together. My parents experiences guides us sometimes in our life when we are stuck in the same kind of situations. I have not spent any summer vacation without a trip . But it was May 2020 I spent whole month at home. Board games and UNO cards were my time pass. During that time my mom exposed me to many online competitions.

I started realising that this virus not only made a bad impact but good ones too. First and foremost it thought us the cleanliness and hygiene. Wearing mask was first a challenging task. I was not comfortable breathing with mask. My family time included making masks with our cotton cloth. It was fun time doing this. I realised the proverb "Necessity is the mother of invention" is true. When there was shortage of mask we started preparing our own mask. At one stage we wondering we will lose years of study in corona. But the advancement in IT field provided solution to the problem and by end of June 2020 we got the books by courier and started attending online classes. It provided a very good alternative to school. Yet children have become lazy sitting at home. Some don`t listen to class, they play games. Some don`t join at all. Some have shifted to remote places where there is no proper connectivity. Teachers had a tough time.

Not only students who were impacted by this even the people working in IT had to face extra hours of work as they were working from home. They get up late as they work long hours at night and the whole cycle was disturbed. Because of this many people suffered from severe health issues. Extreme laziness prevailed. We all started eating too much and without excercise and walking ,we all bloated and become double the size. According to survey presented in the newspaper 92% of people turned overweight in India. In this way we just crossed the first wave of COVID-19 in India with many near and dear ones fighting against it. Some won the battle and some even lost in the tough fight. I feel sorry for the people who have lost the battle but they have taught us how brave they were and how bold they fought till their last breath.

We thought the COVID-19 was over but it was like chasing a rainbow to get rid of this epidemic. within 2 months the second wave started and by this time many people got vaccinated and we thought that it would not have much impact. It proved that our thinking are not right always. Million and millions of people lost their life in this 2nd wave. It was the time when my grand parents and great grand parents tested positive for COVID. Real fear of COVID started. We had hard time and we had to sail through it . My grand parents recovered and we lost our Great grand father in this battle who was very healthy and used to do yoga daily even at the age of 90. Apart from this he usually goes for walking. It was our badtime we lost him to this deadly virus. It also taught us how we could refrain our self from crowded places.

By gods grace we got through 2nd wave and by sept 2021 we were out to play. Some were wearing mask and some wear not wearing mask. we all started playing together. Some kids had cold and we insisted on were mask but many of my friends neglected it. One fine day my friend had fever and doctor insisted him to take corona test. Other friends who were not wearing mask were in fear. Everyone awaited for his result. The much awaited result came and he was tested negative. But it thought us to wear mask and play and dont go out when you have cold.

Finally it was time for schools to begin another variant called omicorn showed his presence. But was not long lived . Many people got infected but we all got herd immunity by that time. So it was without much challenge we crosssed this wave and finally in Feb 2022 schools reopened and we spend lot of time with out friends. We were happy to see our teachers back.

It was the doctors and medical practitioners who served as a god and many succumbed to this life threatining virus. Thank you doctors and nurses who worked day and night to safe guard this world. Now again cases are raising but hope we will get dawn from this virus soon.
