Dream Or Not ?

The last thing I saw was my alarm clock flashing 12:07 before she pushed her long rotting nails through my chest, her other hand muffling my screams. I sat bolt upright, relieved it was only a dream, but as I saw my alarm clock read 12:06, I heard my closet door creak open.

I immediately dashed out of the room, turning on each and every light on my way downstairs. 

Now that the whole house was flooded with light, I went to the shelves beside the front door, grabbed a pocket knife from one of them, and waited. I stood there near the front door in case I had to make a run for it. 

I heard a loud crash from upstairs but did not dare investigate it.

I stood there, waiting for something to happen - maybe for the sun to rise or for that monster from my dream to appear - whatever it was, I was ready for it or so I thought.

It was silent again. 5 minutes...10 minutes...eventually, a whole hour had passed but there was not a single sound except the sound of my breathing. 

After standing there for 2 hours, I finally found the courage to go upstairs. With the knife still in hand, I started climbing up the stairs. At each step, I thought of turning back and spending the night on the couch instead, but I forced my feet to move forward.

After the last step, I stood in front of my room. Shakily, I grabbed the handle and pushed it down, opening the door. I peeked inside. It was dark. Seems like I forgot to turn on the light here in a rush. Luckily, the switch was near the door. I felt around the wall for it and turned it on. Light flooded the room. 

What I saw in front of me surprised me. The closet was wide open and all my clothes were scattered across the floor, some shredded to pieces. The window was also a bit ajar. But that was not what shook me. In the middle of the mess, lay a black cat sleeping peacefully on top of my coat. I let out a laugh, which woke up the cat. It stretched its limbs, looked at me, and then jumped out of the window, leaving me to clean up the mess.
