Dear Dharti,

There was a day when she was 5, and I was living separately from her and her dad. One day I got a chance to see her alone and I asked her to come with me forever. I assured her that her dad would not say anything if she came with me. I told her if she wants she can come with me, and no one will stop her, but she said, “no mommy, you go to mama’s house and stay there. If I come with you, daddy will not let you live peacefully. He would come there and beat you and abuse you.

I usually don’t cry much in my life, but at that moment I couldn’t stop my tears. I hugged my little girl, who’s so mature for her age!

Dharti, I appreciate your concern for me since that day.

After a few days, we compromised and started living together. She was six then. One day she walked one mile with Rohit to a store and spent all her piggy bank money to buy a dress. It was Rs 600! She came back and walked again the same way to Archie’s Gallery and bought a card. The next day it was my birthday and she surprised me with a gift and a card. The card she had chosen was so appropriate! And yet again she filled my eyes with tears… we walked back and I gave the dress back, and I gave her her money back, that was a different story… but Dharti, I appreciate your unconditional love for me since that day.

Before Pearl was even born, she became her mother. She took care of everything for Pearl before she was even born. She did all the jobs a mother does. She was 7 years old when Pearl was born. Pearl was one month old when one night, it was 01:00 AM, and the three of us were sleeping. I used to keep lights on during the night, when suddenly Pearl started crying and even in her deep sleep, Dharti start patting her, as a mother does for her kids in deep sleep.

Dharti, you became the youngest mom since Pearl was born. I appreciate your being a mother to her at such a young age!

You’re still a great mom to Bria. You do every single thing on your own. You’re a strong mother. You give her all your love and at the same time take on the father’s role as well. You pat her on the back, and you become strict with her for her wellness. You still take care of Pearl, like a mother, although you fight with her like a sister too! And now you’re becoming my mother, you take care of me too.

Dharti, with all our disputes, with all our difference of opinions, I love you unconditionally. The same way you love me!! I appreciate your care for all of us, always!

And we want you to be the same way all your life!!

LOVING, CARING, SENSITIVE, STRONG, AND SMART!!

Love,

Mom, Pearl, Bria, Adarsh, and Zeshan
