Dad, let's go na it is already 11 am, you promised me that you'll take me to the sweet shop on Sunday

Dad opens his eyes slowly and looks at me

"Looks like you are ready to go, ask your mother to make some tea and then we'll leave for the sweet shop in like 30 mins"

My eyes sparkle and a smile are bestowed on my face, I run towards the kitchen and ask my mother to make some tea for dad.

He is a man of his words, in 30 mins we started walking towards Heera sweets nearby, he walks calmly looking at surroundings, the trees, meeting people on his way, here I am jumping here and there like a kangaroo with my dad trying to stop me from getting too far ahead.

I saw the shop from a distance and ran towards it, I crossed the road without looking at both the sides

My dad scolded for not doing it right and made me understand the risks of it. The wide smile turns upside down, I could do nothing except frown, it's about to rain on a sunny day, with my tears running astray.

He says "look up kid" and my mouth gets filled with the sweetness of a Gulab Jamun with a kishmish. My tears finally drop down and I start to cry, the Gulab Jamun is too big for me, I can't speak even if I try. I close my eyes and let the sweetness sing the lullaby.

I open my eyes and I am lying in my bed it's 2 PM and it's another Sunday. I sit back and think of that dream but there was something important I had to take care of as soon as I could. I start walking towards the other room, she is sleeping peacefully now though her face makes it evident that she cried a lot.

Why won't she I ask myself, I scolded her and said her no even when I had promised her that I'll take her to the chocolate shop across the street?I slowly caress my hand on her head, she opens her eyes slowly

"Papa why are you crying?" her sweet voice mesmerized me instantaneously.

It's nothing little one, some dust got into my eyes, get ready we have to go and don't forget to was your face

"You mean chocolate??"

Yes I do, let's go sunshine, I'll get you whatever you want

"You're the best dad in the world," she says it out aloud

I affirm to not make her doubt herself but deep down I know that I am not, I know just one thing, it is my duty to keep her happy and let her be free.
