CURSED ROAD-part 3
CURSED ROAD-part 3
I saw my uncle again. He died 3 years ago. He smiled and his teeth were black like burnt wood.
Everyone inside the temple stood up at the same time. Their eyes were closed, but they were walking towards me. My phone and torch both went off.
My uncle whispered, "We were waiting for you. This temple opens only for our family. Every year one person from our family must sit inside. Last year I sat. This year, it's your turn."
I saw one empty place in the first row. It was for me. For 100 years, our family has been giving one person to this temple. They don't die, they become the wall of the temple.
I pushed him and ran towards the cursed road. Hundreds of feet were running behind me.
I finally reached the main road and saw my village lights. I thought I was safe. But when I looked in the mirror at home, there was a black handprint on my shoulder. And in the mirror, my uncle was still smiling behind me.
The empty place is still waiting. Next year, I have to go back.
