Creature - Part 2

There was shrillness in the voice. It was most unlikely of Vikas. The lady of the house came to the toilet to see Vikas was without clothes. The lady saw Vikas face, it was as if seen his own death face to face. He told her about the message and what happened to the washbasin. She went inside and saw everything was intact.

She told," You have drunk yesterday too much and not allowed me to sleep a full night. Now stop blabbering and wash."

"Hey don't order me as my wife. Prepare the breakfast, I have to go early.", Said Vikas raising his arm. The lady went to the kitchen hearing his chime. Mr. Vikas was the Circle Inspector of police in the DySP office. He showered and put on his uniform. Then he had his breakfast and went to the office. In the office, Vikas told about the morning incident to one of his assistants, Sub-Inspector, Mr. Yasmeen Muhammed as a joke. Vikas has also brought the argument about over-drinking and the effects associated with it. Vikas decided that day went to go to another lady. She prepared meat with liquor. The time elapsed. They were both were enjoying losing all their consciousness. At about midnight a green piece of cloud came over the house, it poured over the house and entered the bedroom through the pipe. It came to the bedroom where they were sleeping. Similarly, it poured a slimy liquid over the bed covering them. The Creature was formed from the liquid causing the house to explode. The lady and Vikas bed came down to the ground as the helicopter gets parked. The unbearable heat made Vikas and the lady wake up. Both saw the creature and an unbearable fright engulfed them. Vikas took his revolver but Creature did something to make it melt like ice. Vikas with horror in his eyes saw a needle-like thing coming towards him and then the Creature disappeared.

The explosion in the middle of the city was taken up seriously by the police department. Superintendent police officer visited the place. They took stock of situation. Every person in the vicinity was questioned. The bomb squad and Forensic came to collect important pieces of evidence. SP gave special and specific instructions to give the report as soon as possible and not leak anything to the Media.

Vikas didn't report to the office on the following day. There was no leave and on the third day Mr. Yaseem, SI and Vikas's subordinate, was called upon by DySP. Mr. Yaseem told about the death threat received by Vikas and also added that CI Vikas told to him as a casual joke. The DySP took the threat seriously and gave permission for a preliminary inquiry and submit a report.

Yaseem first took the help of Cyber cell to track the route map of Vikas for the past one week. He finally came to the explosion site. On inquiry, the house was registered in the name of a lady. He also got additional information that this was the place Vikas usually to visit. Yaseem gave the report to DySP that Vikas was present at the place during an explosion or just before that. DySP asked to keep it with himself and he will get back. Then after some time, Mr.Yasmeen was asked to meet DySP in the office.

"Yasmeen in this case you have to keep your tongue-tied. The explosion case is closely followed up by the media. If this news comes out, Then it will put the Department in a bad light. So not a word to anyone."

"But sir, Vikas sir can also be a victim.", Said Yasmeen.

"May be not but for that, there is a special investigation team under SP. So not your headache.", Said DySP

"Ok sir.", Said Yasmeen.

Yasmeen was not happy. He thought that the current investigation under SP is hogwash and the powerful people are trying to cover up something. He shared his thoughts with his friend Christofer. Christofer is a Sub Inspector with independent charges. Christofer told him to wait for till the press release about the case.

The days passed and there was no action or news about the case. Moreover, there was no news about Vikas or his disappearance. 

Yasmeen took the help of his friend Christofer and met with the Forensic team of the case. The head of the forensic was Ms. Trisha told them it's a curious case. Since no explosive trace was found and one more thing is that they have found a skeleton. The bed inside the room was intact. The only place affected was that building. No other building or place around that vicinity was affected. They thanked Trisha for the information.

Yasmeen and Christofer had no idea how to move about in this case.

Christofer said, “ Let’s look at the facts.”

 Yasmeen said, ”Mr. Vikas was an officer with questionable creditworthiness. He had some cases against him of malpractice and corruption. He had many Affairs and his wife left him due to this behavior. The house was one of the usual places to visit for Mr. Vikas. The house was registered in the name of Ms. Pallavi. The grape wine is that it was brought by Vikas for her. but since the explosion, there is no trace of her. On the previous night also he was with another lady, where he got the death message. His affairs and his character may be the reason why DySP didn’t want to proceed with the case.”

"Then we will start from the message.", Said Christofer.

Christofer and Yasmeen met the lady. She was initially hesitant.

"We know what your business is? You are selling sex to prospective clients and Mr. Vikas was with you the other night. Your choice, illegal trafficking arrest or tell the truth.", Said Christofer.

"Vikas was with me. ", said the lady.

"Anything unusual happened.", Asked Yaseem.

"Nothing. But in the morning he said that he saw a message that he will be killed that night.", Said the lady

"How ?", Asked Christofer.

"In the washroom. But when I went there nothing was there. I thought he was blabbering. But now.", Said the lady

Yaseem and Christofer recorded the statement from the lady. Yaseem asked, "what to do now? No leads."

"Use your network to identify any similar case was reported. I will also try from my end", said Christofer.

Christofer and Yaseem parted for a time being. After two days Yaseem called Christofer to say that a similar case was reported two months ago. They went to the police station and met with the officer there. He explained the case. A Planter has a complaint about threats to his life. On that particular day, his house exploded. A policeman and Planter's wife and kid got killed. One policeman lost his mind and the Planter is missing. They thanked the SI and with his help got the copy of the case.

Then two police officers met the Forensic department personnel. He explained that when he visited the place the body of the policemen was near the explosion site. The child and Women bodies were about 200 to 300m away from the explosion site. The policeman died of a head injury or something hitting him powerfully. But the child and the mother died of something very sharp penetrated. There was no weapon found near the side or in the vicinity of the site. Moreover, the child's body was found under a skeleton. They scanned the area and were unable to find any footmarks other than policemen, Planter, and his wife. The house was fully demolished but the bed in which they usually sleep was intact. He was unable to figure out the material which caused the explosion. For identification, he did an analysis of the skeleton. He found that the skeleton is 2000 years old. This information was something new to Yaseem. They took a copy of the forensic report.

"We need to meet the policeman who is alive.", said Yaseem

"He is nuts.", Said Christofer.

"But we can get to know what happened and one more thing. The building that exploded in the town is under your jurisdiction. Help me to track the owner. It's a lady named Pallavi. She has not been seen after that incident.", Said Yaseem.

"Ok. What’s on your mind.", Asked Christofer.

"I have some doubts but cannot say fully.”, said Yaseem.

Christofer started enquiring about the lady and meanwhile, Yaseem went to meet the policeman.

The Policeman was in the cell. He was calm. Yaseem with help of the psychiatrist talked with the policeman. The chit- chat was very difficult. Yaseem asked about the police family and his basic details to make him comfortable. He then asked specifically what happened that fateful night. The policemen's recollection was bad. He was going back and forth with what happened at that night. Yaseem recorded the whole statement. Then he thanked the psychiatrist and called Christofer to tell him what happened. Christofer heard Yaseem and informed him that Pallavi was found.

Christofer and Yaseem met Pallavi. She was in another district. There she had a flourishing business. The inspectors met her.

“We want to know what happened that night and what have you done to Mr. Vikas”, asked Yaseem.

“This area is not under your command. Do you have a warrant?”, asked Pallavi.

“You are more than a sex-worker. You know the law. So let me explain, we took the route map of Mr. Vikas and it ends at your exploded house. Now your turn.”, said Christofer

“What you want?”, asked Pallavi.

“Information”, said Yaseem switching on the walkman.

“Mr. Vikas came to my house. We had a nice time till midnight. Then I was awakened by a sudden explosion. Saw our bed floating in thin air and the bed covered with some liquid. It was very hot. I was very afraid. Saw an unformed big thing. Its color was green. Vikas sir took out his revolver but it melted. Then the bed came down. The liquid was gone and I took my cloth and ran from the place as fast as I can without even looking back. While I was running, I heard a loud scream. I was very much afraid.”, said Pallavi. She was in tears and trembling.

Yaseem and Christofer observed her. But they were also speechless by the uncovering of the events.

“This is most unusual. You think we are fools. We will buy your cock and bull story just like that. Pallavi needs the taste of our jails.”, said Christofer.
