Corona Times and a lesson from the Puranas
Corona Times and a lesson from the Puranas
Narayanastra was one of the lethal weapons gifted by Indra to Parashurama. The latter gifted it to Karna who in turn gifted it to Ashwathama. There was no other weapon in the world to counter it. After the death of his father Dronacharya, the outraged Ashwathama applied narayanastra on Pandavas to destroy them! The speciality of this astra was that it could be used only once and would release innumerable weapons instantaneously , the intensity of which depended on the resistivity of the target. On the other hand, it would pass off harmlessly if there was no resistance. This was the trick played by Sri Krishna who ordered Pandavas and their entire army to drop their weapons and lie flat on the ground shutting their eyes, nose, mouth and ears which they did. With no resistance at all the astra passed off harmlessly. However, Bhima who was a bit short tempered tried to offer some resistance and lost some of his powers!
Poor, Ashwathama, cursed by Sri Krishna is living without death for millions of years until the end of the Kaliyuga with leprosy, body full of wounds and all such contagious diseases without any help.
A lesson to learn from the puranas... cover your eyes, nose, mouth and be confined to home until ordeal of the pandemic is over. Unless it is indispensable, one should not venture out of their homes! And should increase their immunity by taking proper food and medication. These corona Times would also pass off just like the Narayan ashtra , if we abide by the regulatory measures and safety norms and take care of ourselves, our family and also of the people around us.
