Corona Thandha Thatha Paatti

It was one fine evening with a beautiful sunset scene outside the vandavasi government hospital on corona ward where two sincere police constables named Latha and Nambi were standing straight with their head held high. The hospital is deserted housing not many patients, a duty doctor, two nurses, and an antique-looking cleaner. As Latha stands beside her cold, untouched tea staring deep into the ruby-colored sky Nambi notices her teacup with a bee fallen in it, he asks Latha “en inum tea kudikala ma’am?” only to notice her expressionless eyes looking far and wide he repeatedly asks “enna madam ennachu?” and to that she replies with only a tiny leer. 

Consecutively When Latha skips her dinner Nambi becomes concerned and starts pondering upon the reason for her poor appetite and her distractions lately. 

The next day he goes to the cleaner asking her to ask Latha the reason for her sadness and the reason why she has been missing her meals without informing about his curiosity and so the lady asks Latha the same, and she replies saying that her only girl child who is a thirteen year-old named Ananya is at home along her father is lying in her bed due to stomach pain and hasn’t even eaten her meals these past two days and that Latha’s parents live with her brother in a different place stating that she has not a single person to look after her daughter. 

Latha nearly cries as she says that she can’t even go home to check what is wrong with her daughter and even if she does manage to go she would be quarantined for the next two weeks. Hearing this the wise lady replies that the little girl had attained adolescence and that god will aid her one way or another.   She comes back to Nambi to inform all that Latha told her in a sad tone and states only a woman can another women’s problem.

This information gets Nambi thinking about how he can support Latha in these hard conditions. That evening Latha gets a call from her daughter speaking in a cheerful manner which gives Latha a sudden surge of joy and curiosity she asks her daughter what she had eaten for lunch and her daughter replies quickly saying that she ate milagu rasam sadam with potato roast made by kamala paatti. 

Surprised by this Latha enquires her husband who kamala paatti is, and he replies saying that it is Nambi’s mother who had come to assist them during this transformation on hearing the condition from Nambi. 

She glares at Nambi in awe and continues talking to kamala paatti to thank her then kamala paatti says “ni kavalaye padatha yenoda pethi odda puberty function ah na jaamnu oru koraiyum illama nadathuven, bathirama paathukuven, nimmadiya iru ma.” hearing this Latha sheds tears of happiness and feels blessed to be surrounded by such humbling people. Then, she thankfully sees Nambi with tears now running down her face, and he smiles in reply.
