That was yet another day in the Football ground. My team always lost against the Real Mulund and Sam was the team’s captain. I was the Captain of FC Bhandup. I know these were copied names from real football teams, the original ones were Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. We copied these names just so that we could have some fun with those names and make ourselves laugh which REALLY did not work out at all.

I knew it as usual that we were going to lose and infact we did. When our team was returning WE were sad, which usually did not happen because we had a habit of losing, because we lost by the score 5-0 which surely was not acceptable by any of us. I knew that I could cheer them up for a while [which was a bad idea. Why? Well that will be answered soon.].

I announced to our team that we will SURELY win the next match, and guess what, well you probably know, the other team started teasing us. If I didn’t know them any better I would say they were teasing ME in particular but yeah I know them well enough. Right?

Everybody experiences a day when they are very sorry for what the just did and a day when they are very proud of their decision. Well for me these two did not have a lot of ‘Time Gap’ between them. I was so mad at myself that day that I went home, opened YouTube and saw all the videos in which Barcelona is beaten by Madrid and THAT just made matters worse. The matches did not matter to no one except FCB fans. I was angry and sorry for myself both at the same time.

Seems like my depression the night before did a bit of aid. I might have had learnt some of the tricks subconsciously because when I played with my football before the match I was able to do some of those. Not just to me, but all my teammates, it seems like they all saw football videos because all of a sudden there was a roar of excitement among my friends [PS a silent, mental roar]. Seeing the confidence in my teammates I myself was looking forward to this match just before it started and suddenly there was this funny feeling that we would win the match. There was a wave of change or confidence maybe, the hair on my body stood up and settled just like that. We won the match, that’s right, you are reading it right, WE won by the score of 6-5 which was a wonderful experience. It was a great achievement not just for me but for every friend of mine. And also, it doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning.

Moral of the story, watch football videos in which your favorite team loses just before an important match. Just kidding; even if I knew those tricks by heart and did not have that confidence I would literally never keep to my word. We always learn about self-confidence in our school and we are like the teacher is just saying something which will never be needed and we pay not even a percent of attention there. But when we need self confidence we don’t even have an inch of it. Then is when we get to know it’s importance.
