Commitment

 As usual myself and my friend Balaram started evenings walk. During our talks, he mentioned an instance happpened in his Government service.

      He mentioned that while he worked in government service, he stayed in Town . Along with other Officers in that Town, he also directed to go and report before the Nodal officer at Agency area. All the officers in that Town, except himself reported two days before the date of duty to the Nodal officer at the Agency. The Nodal officer in turn given all needed material to perform duty at remote village on the next day. As the said place is at a distance of about 40kms, all of them were given a vehicle. Accordingly, they gone to the village. My friend said, after completion of his urgent work, he reported to the Nodal Officer at Agency area late in the evening. On his arrival, the Nodal Officer felt dis-satisfied, and gave him a bunch of small items missed to be given to the team of officers left in the afternoon, and asked him to go and give to the team before the next day evening. The Nodal Officer has not given him any vehicle or Route Map and asked him to go by walk to the destination village which is at a distance of nearly 40 kms. As the said duty is mandatory, he secured some eatables, water bottles etc.,in the night, and started walk early in the morning to go to that remote Agency village. Since it is an agency area, except one or two, nobody appearing throughout his walk.

At about noon time, he gone to a small tribal village, where a village goddess function is performing by all the villagers, and they are in drunken state. When they asked , how to go further to the village, nobody given guidance. Instead, they told that wild animals like elephant, tiger etc., are moving in the surrounding places and not advisable to go beyond. My friend says he frightened very much at these words of the villagers. Since the items must be handed over by the evening, and he has also to perform that Mandatory duty, he dared to left the place at his life risk, and walked towards his destination village on his own thought praying god. On his walk, few tribals guided to go to the village. He reached destination village at about 4 PM. On seeing him, the team of officers surprised, and ascertained the entire episode happened from him. They felt un-happy at the Nodal officer for not extending minimum facilities to him. He mentioned that they appreciated the service rendered by him taking a life risk . When the missed package items handed over by to them which is very very important, they felt very happy and Hug him. They asked me to take complete rest, and not do any duty in the morning. But as it is Mandatory duty ,he stated that he also joined to do the duty along with team of officers and discharged his duties and thus authorised himself his attendance.

     On hearing his experience, I also appreciated his sincerity and  faithfulness towards Government service.
