CLASS ELECTION

CLASS ELECTION

This is an incident from our school when we were in grade 4. We were being taught about the elections held in the government. Sometimes we even got bored listening to the whole procedure of it. So, ma'am wanted to teach it practically by making it more interesting and fascinating. Her plan was to set up an election which would be a 3-4 days activity.

Her idea was to select some candidates out of the class and the rest of them would vote on the basis of the candidates' speeches. The winning candidate would become the class monitor. The candidates selected were- H, V, P, M & J. They all gave their speeches turn wise on the next day.

It was fun listening to their speeches, some things told were even impossible. But, something had hurt me and partner, DP aka Diya. We both were discussing about why we weren't chosen to be candidates. We were the actual gems of the class and ultimate bias of our class teacher. Quite disheartening but it's okay; happens!

We decided to cast our vote H. She was the one who was responsible enough for the duty of monitor and speech was also convincing. "So final, votin' her right!?" I asked. Both of us agreed. They had drawn their logos, slogans, and party name on the blackboard. We drew her party symbol on a chit which was distributed to the whole class.

Then two people were called for classifying the chits and votes. The least votes unfortunately for P. It was just 1 which was by a newcomer HEHE. Second least- MAITHILI, 2 votes. Then V- 7 votes. (no hate)

Then it was an important part- BOYS vs GIRLS was going on! JANAV & HEER were being cheered. Finally, the thrill ends- J- 13 votes, H- 14 votes. So girls won who voted her. She became the monitor surpassing her competitor by just one vote but both were good contenders. Her journey as monitor was awesome!

This could enhance our concepts about election and also instil values of democracy within us.
