Change your attitudes

Gandhi once said, "Be the change that you want to see in the world."

Everyone has become environment protection freaks. Everyone wants to save the environment from disasters. But to spread the message, they take their personal car and go. They print pamphlets our which is again a waste. The meetings are conducted in AC halls and refreshments for the people attending the meetings is served in disposable cups and plates.

This morning while scrolling through FB, I came across a post. Two brothers in Mumbai tried their level best to make one of their wedding for the betterment of the environment. They did not print cards. Instead, they gave a potted plant to all the invitees with the details of the wedding handwritten on the mud pot. They included the common plants people are familiar with. And the invitees were very much overwhelmed after seeing the invitation and they also got to choose the plant they wanted. The brothers said, the task was not easy to carry out but they did it with so much love and enthusiasm. They also asked the guests to give the RSVP do that there is no wastage of food. Isn't that so cool??

We often preach but forget to practice. We ask people to do all sorts of things to protect our nature. People are promoting wooden straws and cutlery which can be reused. But are they using it?? People promote using steel and glass bottles. But are they using the same?? Every time we buy small packets of food, we are producing plastic.

Lead people by example not by a sermon.
