Everyone in this world have some dreams like- to buy a new house, own vehicle, branded accessories or to travel by airbus at least once in their life time. There was no limitations for dreams. If a person doesn’t have any dreams means, probably they are not having any interest in their life. Dreaming is one of the most beautiful thing, that motivates us to achieve our goal.

So, in this story we are narrating the story of a girl and her dream and going to know what twists and turns she faces.

There was one small village, and I am Preetha the narrator, so I’m starting with my husband, whose name is Raju. We both got married one year back. And it was an arranged marriage because in my village love marriage is a big sin. They didn't let me study in high school also because normally in my village they did not allow a child to study more than 5th class but my husband had completed his degree and he is so kind that he never hit me or abuse me like others husband I am really lucky to have him as my life partner.

Life was going happily and one fine day I conceived, my whole family celebrated this happiness like a festival. They were all so excited about this. My family and my husband’s family took care of me like a baby. One day I was sitting out and talking with my cousins, they all asked me, which gender baby you want. I told anything is fine because he/she is going to be my child. Even my husband had the same thought that I have about kids. I told like this to my cousins. I never knew that time that small thing will become a big issue. Our whole family wanted a baby boy and this thing I came to know in my 2nd trimester.

They don't like & want a baby girl .They took me to the hospital to know the gender of the upcoming baby. That time I felt very helpless. When doctor diagnosed me, I wasn’t able to hold my tears, what if girl child will be detected. They won't allow her to come into this world .

I came out and waited for the result. Doctor told that your daughter in law is expecting a girl child. I was the only person who felt happy with that news. Our families tried and wanted to abort the expecting girl child at that time itself. They even started the treatment.

But by God's grace my husband came and saved me. He took me out from the hospital. He fought with all relatives and he decided to go out from that town and we left that village and settled in different state to save our child. Few months later, I delivered beautiful baby girl. After some days we came to know a difficulty in baby's eye sight, then we took her to the doctor, he told she was born blind because that day they tried to abort, in the middle only my husband came, before that doctor had injected something, I don't know what that was but that thing took my baby's eyes sight, now after thinking all this I thought our life itself is going to finish. We literally got broken inside and took our daughter home.

We enrolled her in the best blind school in the town. In that small age itself she was so clever. She always used to tell, I want to become a big artist and want to go all around the world. We never wanted to sacrifice her education at any cost. We both gave the best of everything to her.

Years passed, now she was a graduate .One day our doctor told that some new treatment is available to cure the blindness. We wanted to give her eyes. So for her wish, we planned to go abroad. That time we did not have that amount of money but now, we are financially strong to go there and settle. Our daughter always ask us where are her grandparents, I want to see them but we never take her there. But we are going another country now, so we planned to full fill her dreams that she was longing for so many days. She was so excited to see her grandparents. We went there, even they felt happy to see us after a long time. They felt very bad for our daughter. I didn't tell them because of them our daughter had lost her eyes. Then we were talking in the hall.

After sometime she came and told me that she doesn't want to come abroad and also to our home. We got shocked, what happened ? suddenly, my husband asked her, the reply that came from her surprised me. She told, these many years I thought I'm the unlucky person who is not able to see anything, but today I came to know that there are so many kids in this village whose eyes are closed with ignorance and fear. 90% of children's are restricted to go to school. This is the biggest crime and also I came to know that, still now in this village they are aborting and killing the child if it is a girl. So mom and dad, I don't want to come abroad.

I'm going to stay here, I want to change all this thing, not only in this village all over the country. From now onwards this is my dream, not abroad. I want to make my country healthy. Even I'll sacrifice my life for this, if needed. This is my dream.

I am feeling so happy. We feel really proud for our daughter.

[NOTE : Female foeticide and infanticide is still rampant across the country, despite strict bans on determination of sex of a child during pregnancy.

The report says, "The reduction in sex ratio of youth is found to be much more than that of the overall population. It has come down to 939 in 2011 as compared to 961 in 1971 and is projected to decline further to 904 in 2021 and 898 in 2031].
