Knock…Knock…

“May I come in, sir?”, I asked with fake politeness on my face.

“Yes. Mr. Sangram. Please, come in.”, A bald guy suited in a black blazer replied with a fake enthusiasm at a frequency which can definitely resonate my question.

Using an amazing robotic posture walk which has been tested by our training and placement officer for years, I pretended as a born consultant with strategy in mind to create a new history of Rag to the Rich story.

With a magical smile on my face learnt from a famous YouTube interview specialist, we both started the game. I believe, the interview is a beautiful game. There were a series of unique questions such as tell me about yourself, strength and weakness, etc. I labelled them unique because even though I by hearted answers 4 days back, I still have to put them in a way where answers can still look fresh and showcase on the spot thinking. Again, technical courtesy to our TPO.

Even though we were not showing on our face, we both realized that it is going mundane. I started losing out my hopes. Then he asked a question. A question desired by each and every B-School individual. A question where everyone wants to showcase that he/she is the missing piece of Jigsaw.

“What you think, Mr. Sangram, what is your biggest achievement?”

With a calm breath, I started revising the answer written a few months back, “Sir, in my Engineering days, I was part of the XYZ Student team. We competed in an ABC International competition. I headed the PQR department of team….”. Few more lines mentioning I have done something great at the age of 20-21.

Then I stopped.

I stopped with a ‘But’ and started again.

“Sir, this can be the biggest achievement for me on the paper. But, I believe, 5th rank in 1st unit test in 5th standard is still topping the list. It was the moment I tasted the success for the first time. The moment which made me realized that I am capable enough to perform well in the curriculum. The moment helped me to feel how beautiful is the success. Your biggest achievement should not be a single point which you repeat on your timeline throughout your lifetime. It should be a point which starts the journey. The journey which motivates you to move forward and forward. The journey which helps you to believe in your potential when you have tough situations. And that 5th rank is the moment why I am here in a such prestigious B-School in front of you interviewing for a dream one.”

I knew I have changed the game itself.

It was the first time I did not follow my Training & Placement office and any Internet Interview Specialist.

I just followed ‘Who I am’.

And then, the rest is history.
