Bad Temper

Bad Temper

There once was a little boy with a bad temper. One day, his father gave him a bag of nails and said, " Each time you lose your temper, you must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. "

On the first day, the boy drove 37 nails into the fence. Slowly, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually lessened. He realized that it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.

Finally, the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it. His father said," Now pull out one nail for each day that you were able to hold your temper. " Slowly, the boy began taking out the nails until he was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father then took the son by the hand and went to the fence. He said," You have done well, my son, but look at these holes on the fence. It will never go back to how it was. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man pull it out, but it won't matter how many times you say sorry. The wound will still be there ."
