Hellooooo I wish to be let out, are you listening? It’s gone time !!! Is somebody listening? Anybody there? Open up. I no longer wish to stay cooped up here. WANT TO BREAK FREE...

Maybe I’ll just kick the door open.

I slid a little lower, yeah it seems to be working. 

I know you’re thinking what’s the rush, why the urgency to get out. Well, if you stayed in this space a minute longer, you’d feel the same way.

I wasn’t always like this, initially, it was perfect but over the course of time I’d grown, I’d begun to cover up space. So now that I’d reached the extreme end, I wanted nothing more than to stretch.

You still haven’t figured out where I live though? Haha 

You’ll see in less than a minute. 

My confinement was up, and it was time to face the world.

Again, emphasizing I’m not behind bars ....but it’s showtime folks! 

The mood on the other side was chaos and peace all at the same time. The roar of the engines, people shouting, cheers of congratulations pouring forth, cool air, diverse smells all amplified and marked the birth of a beautiful little girl. 

There now you know! Sound the trumpets! I have arrived! Call it exceptional, exemplary, amazing, ideal, wonderful but all of this was written. Written by the higher powers. Not to be boastful but hey I could brag about it a little bit. It’s not an everyday phenomenon to be born, hold your breath, up in the sky, in a plane full of people, all strangers but suddenly familiar due to the sharing of space, all supposed to be in exactly the right place at the right time. Karmic connections established beautifully. 

She peered into big eyes, blinking and opening her own. “Azure, hi beautiful baby! Hi my little impatient one, welcome to the world “! Her mum cooed at her. Hi mommy! I’m elated to be with you, I just wanted to be let out, to see you and now here I am. But it sounded more like a baby wailing. All this while trying to move her arms, to touch her mom’s face but they wouldn’t move, damn somebody has tied me up really well. 

Azure was born at 38000 feet on the 14 of October in one of the most unlikely of places, an aircraft, which was en route to the Big Apple. It was a joyous occasion! Her parents were surrounded by a lot of people even the captain came to convey his best wishes. He bestowed them with congratulations and even gave them the good news from higher management that little baby azure has been granted with a free lifetime pass on the airline . As she suckled at her mother’s teat, her bad mood replaced with serenity, doing what she did best, napping and looking cute.

But it wasn’t all so idyllic. Before her birth was a frenzied ninety minutes, her mom was taking a nap when she started feeling the contractions, they came like pulsing waves, pain running down her back and abdomen. No, it’s too soon, she thought to herself. She tried changing her position to get some relief, but it just reaffirmed that little baby wanted to rush out into the world. Feisty little one. As she shook her husband awake, mustering up all her energy to say, “honey, she’s coming “. Her husband woke up startled and pointed out but She isn’t due for another two weeks ......the chilli must have initiated the labor. 

He pressed the flight attendant bell waiting to inform them but then decided best to go over and tell them. It would even help him settle his jangling nerves. Omg! He was feeling ecstatic and nervous, his heart thudded hard against his rib cage. He informed the attendant and saw her suddenly spring into action. She asked him a bunch of questions which he answered as best as he could but the last one, he had to ask his wife about . Together they walked back to his seat, the attendant kneeling down and held his wife’s hand and asked her ‘ ma’am how are you feeling? How far apart are the contractions ? “ 

His wife said that they’re coming close together now . 

The attendant quickly rushed back, and the PA system announced, “ ladies and gentlemen, we have a passenger on board in need of medical attention , if there is a doctor or nurse on board please identify yourself to the nearest flight attendant “. The cabin lights were brightened, people stirred from their sleep, the aircraft was flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Making an emergency landing was unfeasible, so they escorted his wife all the way to the end of the plane. It really was a miracle, obstetrics and gynecology consultant, Dr. Salvatore, was traveling on-board to attend a medical conference. 

Dr. Salvatore attempted to stall the delivery until the plane landed but they could have led to complications, so he decided to put the lives of the mom and baby first. He was forced to deliver the baby mid-flight. Using medical equipment provided on board he successfully delivered Baby Azure, as they named her. 

Some arrival don’t you agree. My story has just begun, and I can’t wait to enjoy every day of it. Oh, and I also had my picture taken for the newspaper.
