An Unusual Love Trend

What time is this! People are no more rigid, old-fashioned; aren’t stick to growth-barrier society rules. The new generation is extremely open-minded and ready to welcome changes in life. The most revolutionary transitions have come in the area of love. Love is not a hidden feeling anymore and an open discussion of physical intimacy is absolutely normal in today’s era. Earlier, love between opposite genders is not even accepted easily; but now nothing seems surprising and odd if same-sex couples are seen getting cozy publicly.

Amar is in his fifties. Sitting by the riverside he daily observes how youth so shamelessly breaks the laws of sober society. It is hard to understand if same-gender people having fun together are siblings or friends or couples. He is so alert that at home his own children are under his observation when they bring their close friends. He wonders how the Indian culture has accepted unnatural love relationships but then thinks when there is an involvement of own children then everything is acceptable as none wish to bear the loss of them.

He can’t even think of getting physical with a same-gender person. Sadly, this is a trending theme of web series running on the OTT platforms. Oh! A decade earlier, even in their worst dream, nobody thinks of declaring that they are lesbian and homosexual. But now, showing openly disrespect for such couples can become a reason to get trolled brutally with the tag of a narrow-minded person.

Amar is happy with his traditional mindset and feels blessed that his children are not exceptional. One day his daughter’s friend Ajay visits the house. He is in his twenties. A very decent, soft-spoken, highly mannered, and sincerely career-oriented Ajay has won their hearts. Amar especially enjoys Ajay's company because Ajay seems to be a magician knowing well how to get gel with everyone instantly.

Ajay is such a perfect blend of intelligence and emotions that Amar visualizes him as his future son-in-law. Her daughter is pursuing MBA and once she secures a high salaried job, he will get her married to Ajay. He treats Ajay as his own family member and is scared of losing him. He has announced many times that Ajay is his favorite.

One fine morning, he asks his daughter her opinion about marrying Ajay. She remains silent for a minute and says, “He is gay and already in a serious relationship with his childhood friend.”

He can’t believe what he has heard. No one can say that Ajay’s preference is male. He asks if his parents know about it. Her daughter answers, “Yes, and that’s why he is thrown out of his house.” For a moment, Amar feels sorry for the sweet guy but then thinks if he were his son, would he do the same. His heart says, “No." A golden-hearted child can never be rejected and allowed to cut ties ever.

Amar finds no fault in Ajay. He is a responsible, sensible, and loving personality having a bright future. Then, should he accept his choice of a life partner as love is beyond any restrictions and boundaries? His heart supports him because he loves Ajay as his son. Anyone in love must not be hatred because love is love no matter how unusual it is from the regular trend.
