They finally stopped after making love for long and fell apart like dead bodies. Jude was panting while, Katrina stayed lost in his eyes; waiting for his breaths to calm down. She was madly in love with him.

Jude leaned against the pillow and lit a cigarette.

"Jude when are we getting married? You know, I would be turning twenty-nine next month and Bengali families do not wait for long. Mom and Dad are restlessly looking for a decent proposal for me and as per our last discussion; we both are waiting for your next promotion, so that you could talk to my parents about our marriage. Most importantly, we never do it in a safe way. I don't want to trust these pregnancy pills anymore."

Jude carelessly asked, "Can you please pass my watch."

Kat passed him the wrist watch from the table beside and with curiosity and concern, tried to fix the watch on Jude's wrist.

"Baby, leave me! I don't want to wear it now; just wanted to know the time, as I have a meeting tomorrow early morning at 7 with the client for an upcoming event on Saturday." Jude sounded rude.

"Huh! You and your clients..." Kat responded in a tired voice, as she did not have anything more to add to it and say, she turned to the other side of the bed and closed her eyes, pretending she slept.

Jude was a thirty-three year old man. Lanky, fair and short-tempered. Born in a Christian family, he hailed from Punjab and was working in Mumbai since last five years. He worked for DA networks, as an Assistant Manager (Production). One of the biggest name in event management.

Katrina was from Kolkatta, she came to Mumbai to study marketing. During her college days, she was titled 'The best smile', consecutively for two years. Eventually, Kat and Jude started working for the same event management company. They shared a 2BHK flat in an apartment and have been roommates since a year.

It was during Kat's internship days, they met each other in an event, right on their first meet, that very evening, Jude proposed her. The next day onwards, they marched together to work either on a bike or his car or at times; a taxi.

The next morning Jude woke up early and was off to work by 6 AM. While, she sulked, sobbed and found sleep hardly an hour ago.

One evening while they were sipping coffee at the nearby Liar's café at Worli. Kat was looking meager, weak and sad. In a dejected tone, she approached "Jude, I need to talk to you about something."

Jude replied with no emotions, "Please babe, no more discussions on that marriage thingie, I have already told you about my plans, haven't I?"

This time with a stern voice, "Look Jude! Sometimes, one just cannot wait for something to happen, considering the severity of this situation."

He retorted with sarcasm, "For Christ sake! Would you stop yelling at me? What on earth do you mean by this situation?."

"I am pregnant." She sounded scared.

He was stunned, as if he lost the ground beneath his feet; "What the #&!% Have you gone crazy? How do you know about this, did you conduct any tests?"

She nodded back, "Yes, ofcourse! I had to go for a pregnancy test, as I did not have my periods since a month. The Doctor said, I have conceived. Now what to do?" She was breaking up now.

Jude with a worried voice, "B..Bu..But Kat, you were taking pills right…? Then how come…"

She with swollen eyes, "I kept on telling you, pills do not guarantee 100% protection and safety; but you were always like… dekh lenge."

Jude voiced out intensely, "Whatever it maybe Kat, we cannot afford to have a baby now. No ways!"

She exclaimed, "But honey, do we have any other option; now?"

Jude with glint in his eyes, "Ofcourse we have, there are so many good Gynaecologists nearby; we would go to one of them and get the problem sorted."

Shocked stood she and whispered back, "Oh! So it was always a problem for you?"

He came close and murmured in her ears, gnashing his teeth; "Don't be a fool Kat, once we get married we will have enough time to make babies, until then we just cannot. Tomorrow, we both would walk in to an expensive Doctor and will enquire about abortion"

Gently, he moved back and with a villainous smile on his face; "Is it okay now?"

Although, Kat was stunned but she maintained her calm and politely asked again, "But Jude, why can't we marry now and have the baby, as well? What's so wrong in that."

Jude got irate and shouted back this time, "Oh Katrina, how many times do I need to tell you, that I am still waiting for my promotion; and I won't like to know any right or wrong neither do anything whimsical nor haphazard before that."

A grave silence spread in the air for a minute or two. Kat was sitting alone with her head down, her tear drops chose to disappear on her sport shoe. It must be for her like the Earth was peeling layers and revealing answers to all her introspective FAQ's.

Meanwhile, Jude paid the coffee bill and returned to the table.

He disconnected the call and said to her, "Kat get up, get up now, we got to leave. I will drop you near the apartment and go to handover the cheque to Swati for clearing the payment of the last event."

She was still lost in her thoughts, heartbroken she got up from the chair and started to follow him. He dropped her right in front of the apartment's main gate and drove ahead to meet his colleague Swati, who was from the finance team.

Katrina was so dismayed; she could barely manage to slug through the stairs. She unlocked the flat's door and latched it from inside and directly walked into their bedroom. She lifted the mattress, she took out three A4 size posters of new born babies and a book on Maternity care. She carried and stepped into the washroom and locked herself. She stood in front of the mirror unblinkingly. Suddenly, she screamed loud. Tears were gushing down her eyes, she threw all three posters and the book right onto the mirror. Then, she grabbed the cigarette lighter kept on the window and burnt them all. That evening locked her self in the washroom and flushed her dreams.

The most beautiful dream,
Woven for nine months;
In each and every mind.
All of a sudden encounters,
The worst nightmare;
A shameful dare.

He or she in her womb,
Maliciously stabbed innumerable times;
With reasons like infidelity,
Sometimes, as an unwanted burden
And at times, for dreaming it too early.

Hey! The Martian minds;
Spare that innocent foetus,
Who thought could rest cozily in the cradle of life;
Their bondage imprisoned,
Oft' led to an ignorant suicide.

No kill not a beautiful tomorrow,
After all, life is bliss;
And tiny months old unfortunately,
Your share you have missed.
