This is a story of a loser cop Rajveer Singh, who has lost his son, and is squidge between two unknown people/strangers in his life. One saying he has killed his son and the other saying his son is still alive. Who is lying and who is telling the truth is the story of Rajveer… our protagonist.

The story starts with Deepika who is a newly recruited constable in Mussoorie, is on a raid. Along with her seniors, she is on a way to nab a kidnapper. But to her surprise, they find out that this is not an ordinary kidnapper but a serial killer, Ramcharan. Although Deepika reaches in time as Ramcharan is about to kill the child, but when she saw what was happening in front of her eyes, she froze. Eventually, Ramcharan is arrested but not before he killed that innocent boy. When detained and interrogated, Ramcharan easily confesses that he has killed 9 children already between age 5-10. He has done this to attain immortality. That’s his belief.

Here in Dehradun, Rajveer has just lost his case against his wife who had applied for divorce. The backstory is, after their son went missing, Rajveer and Sakshi (his wife) had not been able to live together with love. Sakshi blames Rajveer for the disappearance of their son and Rajveer too feels the same deep down. The distance between them had kept on widening to an extent that Sakshi couldn’t bear it any more. She leaves him and his house and eventually files a divorce case. Today he was not present in the court for the final hearing. The judge ruled the case in Sakshi’s favor.

Back in Mussoorie, Deepika is being scolded by her seniors as she couldn’t save the child’s life in that raid. Inspector Pathak, who was also present there in the raid, doesn’t really like Deepika from the beginning, the reason being her father and Pathak never went along well during their time. To start with, Deepika was never interested in this job. She always had a dream to start a Chinese stall in here area but because of her father’s death, who was also in police, she got this job.

In Dehradun, due to his depressed mental condition, Rajveer is seeing a psychiatrist Dr. Dev. This is coz his mental health is affecting him and others in personal and professional life today. Dev is a very sensible doctor who understand what Rajveer is going thru and has been treating him since last a couple of years already.

Today is Rajveer’s son’s birthday. Flashbacks in day and nightmares in his sleep is a common thing in Rajveer’s life. Already heartbroken, he wanders around the city, drinks and comes home heavily drunk. In the morning he finds a letter delivered to him in red ink saying that his son is still alive!

Baffled with this, he rushes to his colleague and best friend Virender for help. Virender thinks this is a bad prank someone has played on him. Rajveer sadly accepts it as he too knows that when his son went missing 5 years ago, he and Virender did everything possible to find him but in vain. Still, he requests Virender to help him with this. They both go to a forensic expert to see if they can get any clue from it but it turns out to be clean.

In Mussoorie, while studying the case file of Ramcharan, Deepika comes to know that one of the children killed by Ramcharan is Bobby (Rajveer’s son)! She calls and informs him about the same. During training, Rajveer was Deepika’s trainer and Deepika had a crush on him. When Rajveer reaches Mussoorie, Deepika helps him to meet Ramcharan off records as no one is allowed to do so. Inspector Pathak is on the case and he is a very strict and discipled police officer.

When Rajveer meets Ramcharan, he beats him initially but Ramcharan was a tough nut to crack. His psychic approach towards the world was very different. He believes death is the reason for all worldly wrong doings and if we conquer death then we can attain moksha. But for this, he has to sacrifice 10 children and that too who has a dextrocardia case, i.e., the heart on right side of the body. But Rajveer doesn’t know it yet about Ramcharan’s belief.

Finally, Rajveer breaks down. He pleads Ramcharan to at least tell him where he has dumped or buried his child’s body so that at least he can perform proper ritual of arthi (funeral) for his child. Here Ramcharan plays his bargaining chip. He will tell him only in exchange of his freedom from jail.

Inspector Pathak arrives at the police station and sees Rajveer. He yells at Rajveer and Deepika both for their doings and warns them to be prepared for disciplinary action.

Hopelessly, Rajveer thanks Deepika and leaves for his home. He is still very confused as in what and whom to believe. Yesterday he received a letter saying his son is alive and today a serial killer is saying he has killed his son. Disturbed from all this confusion and nightmares about his son, he continues to visit his psychiatrist Dr. Dev.

Dev realizes Rajveer’s trauma is far beyond his treatment. He suggests him there is a technology in America where thru operation, memory can be erased from one’s mind. It’s called… Memory erasure! Artificial removal of memories or associations of the mind which requires advanced surgery and is very risky. He says Rajveer is matured enough to decide if he wants to live his life in pain or to restart his life afresh.

Rajveer is compelled to think about it as a solution. He is so confused as to what is the truth and who is lying. His son is really alive or dead. His wife left him for this. His total life is shattered. This thought is killing him every day.

Eventually Rajbeer decides he will resign from his job, go to America and get the operation done. He agrees for this complicated operation in spite of knowing the risk involved. But as he is about to sign the surgery/legal documents, Deepika calls him.

She says while studying Ramcharan’s case file, she found a very unique point that all the children he killed were between the age of 5-10 and they all had a similar condition call DEXTOCARDIA! Rajveer is stunned to hear this as his son Bobby too had a dextrocardia condition. Now he starts to believe that Ramcharan was telling the truth and accept the fact that Ramcharan has indeed killed his child. Now as a good father, the least he can do for his child is to give him a proper farewell ritual. And he decides to free Ramcharan from jail, no matter how.

He leaves Dehradun without informing anyone for Mussoorie and with the help of Deepika, he makes an escape plan for Ramcharan. As Ramcharan escapes with Rajveer, Inspector Pathak comes to know. He tries to chase them but they succeed in escaping in the woods.

Back in Dehradun, all this time, Virender was trying to get in touch with Rajveer but couldn’t get thru. Worried about him, he reaches Rajveer’s home but finds it locked. As he turns and is about to go back, he finds an envelope. This is exactly the same kind of envelop Rajveer had brought earlier. In red ink, its written that don’t take me lightly, you will regret later. Also, in the envelope there is a strand of hair.

Rajveer and Ramcharan are in deep forest. Ramcharan brings Rajveer to an abandoned wooden house. Ramcharan points out a place for Rajveer to dig. As Rajveer starts digging, he unearths bones and skeleton of a body, presumably his son.

Virender meets with the forensic expert and the expert tells him she has conducted the test and the DNA of the hair matches to that of Rajveer! More ever, the hair is still fresh… meaning whose ever hair it is, must be still alive. Back in the wood, Rajveer is giving a proper farewell to his son by burning his remains as a ritual.

For him, he did his job as a father. One can see satisfaction on his face. But just then Ramcharan attacks him from behind and knocks him down and tries to escape. By this time, Pathak has arrived with his force and nabs Ramcharan just in the nick of time and also an unconscious Rajveer.

Now Ramcharan is back in jail and Rajveer is under arrest.

Rajveer looks very sad yet satisfied. Virender comes to meet Rajveer. He informs him about the disciplinary action being taken on Rajveer. But Rajveer doesn’t care anymore. He has achieved what he wanted to. All these years he was in a dilemma as to what happened to his son. Now he has the answer to it.

But then Virender tells him about the envelope and the hair he found from Rajveer’s home. Rajveer is shocked, especially when Virender told him the hair is fresh signifying that his son may be still alive. A new burst of current and energy ignites Rajbeer’s body. A new aim, a new mission in life. With the help of Deepika and other juniors policemen, he escapes… again!

In the bus, Rajveer read the full content of the letter. He is being told in order to see his son alive, he needs to reach his home and find another letter from a particular place for further action. As soon as Rajbeer reaches his home and finds the new letter, Pathak, along with his team, barges in and tries to arrest Rajveer.

Rajveer escapes again and as instructed in the new letter, reaches a garden and sits on a particular seat where already an old lady is sitting babysitting a small boy age around 4 years. His hand reaches out under the seat to find another envelope. When he opens it, it says to kidnap that young boy and reach a particular warehouse!

With no other option to see his son alive, Rajvee

r commits one more crime and abduct the boy and drives off. In the car, he comes to know this boy is dumb and deaf. He feels very sorry for him but had no choice. Moreover, to his surprise this boy turns out to be the son of Dr. Dev… his psychiatrist!

Dr. Dev and his son’s nanny arrives at the police station to file a complaint against Rajveer. Virender tries to calm the situation down but to no avail. Dev also informs the police that Rajveer is his patient and is mentally disturbed and needs help. His mental status is not stable and he will kill his son.

Virender calls Rajbeer and confirms his misdoings. Rajveer accepts. Virender demands an explanation and Rajveer explains him the full situation. Also, he tells Virender to arrest a few suspects whom he thinks might be the blackmailer who is sending him letters.

Nakabandi and road blocks are imposed at various points in the city to catch Rajveer. Meanwhile, a little bond is built up between Rajveer and the boy. And when they stop at a Dhaba to eat, Pathak catches Rajveer in the nick of time. A brief fight between them and when Pathak overpowers Rajveer and is about to shoot him, the boy comes in front of Pathak to save Rajveer!

Pathak is shock with this gesture. A cooled down mind of both and Rajveer reveals the whole story to Pathak who, till now, wasn’t aware of all this. Rajbeer pleads Pathak to let him go so that he can save his son. In spite of his brain saying no, Pathak lets Rajveer go along with the boy as he finds Rajveer doing the right thing but in a wrong way.

Rajveer reaches the warehouse as instructed in the letter. Looking forward to meet his son or someone in charge, he is only disappointed to find one more letter instead. In this letter, he is instructed to KILL THE BOY HE KIDNAPPED! Also he finds a gun next to the letter.

An internal fight between a desperate father and a good human being begins. He as to kill the child to see his son alive, but what if his son is already dead? Will he be able to live with the guilt of killing an innocent child, that too whose father has been helping him in his treatment like an elder brother. This internal fight results in the good human winning. And Rajveer finally decides not to kill the innocent child for his greed and returns back to the police station with the child where Pathak is waiting for him. Rajveer surrenders himself.

As Pathak is doing his final paperwork to take Rajveer to Mussoorie, Rajveer receives a phone call from his wife Sakshi. Initially Rajveer feels a very happy to receive a call from her. He really wanted someone on his side to pacify him, but to his disdain, she tells him she is getting married and him to move on in his life.

Rajveer accepts the situation and apologizes Sakshi for not being a good father, she says it was not only that. She knew about his affairs too all this time! All this built up led her to leave him. Rajveer is surprised and shocked. He asks how she came to know about this. She says someone sent her a letter along with a picture of him and his alleged girlfriend. Something strikes Rajveer! He asks Sakshi whether the letter was written in red ink, to which she says yes. Rajveer is shaken up. He has figured out something, but for that, he will have to run again, and so he does… again.

He reaches a countryside home which belongs to his old friend Siddharth and his wife Jyoti. He asks about a woman called Tara whom he met via Jyoti in a party with whom he had a one-night stand. Tara was married then but he didn’t know. Jyoti informs that Tara died a year back in a car accident. But her husband and child survived. Rajveer was shaken. He asked about her husband’s details which she give. Rajveer heads for this address for answers of all his questions.

And to his surprise, Tara’s husband is no one else but Dr. Dev, his psychiatrist!

THE BACKSTORY

TARA

Tara was a wannabe model but couldn’t make it big. There was a time when she had to decide either to keep trying or quit and settle down. That’s when she met Dev. Dev was more than 15yrs elder to Tara but was rich, successful and well settled in life… a perfect candidate for an ambitious girl. She saw this as an opportunity and married him. She continued trying her luck with her modelling career, but things were becoming bad to worse. A time came when she started to realize the value of a family and finally decided to quit her career and settle down. But grass is not always greener on the other side.

DEV

Dev was a smart and intelligent person. He was quite successful and good in his career but bad when it came to women. He was very bad at sustaining relationships with girls in his life, so when a pretty and young girl like Tara came in his life, he became more insecure. These insecurities made him an over possessive husband and this is when Tara found out grass in not always greener on the other side.

It was very evident their marriage was not on good terms. Tara was petrified with so called Dev’s obsessive behavior towards her. The more Tara was avoiding Dev’s over possessiveness, the more Dev felt Tara is drifting away from him life and hence putting more effort resulting in more psychoses.

At one time Tara thought maybe a child might change him and eventually save their marriage. So she finally quit her career and started planning for a family. And this idea of hers paid off. Tara became a mom and gave birth to a beautiful boy. And this indeed changed Dev as his focus shifted more towards his son. His son became the most important thing in his life. Surprisingly, Dev turned out to be a very good father too. He was a changed man. Both Tara and Dev were now happy in their new life. Everything was going perfect for a couple of years till one day, during second child planning complication, Dev finds out he is impotent!

His whole world turns upside down as his worst fear came alive. The child he loves so much is actually not his! The wife he loved so much eventually cheated on him. The old Dev emerges again. He wanted to kill her so bad, but who is the father of his child? Dev hid this info of impotency from Tara and did some digging himself. He found out that the biological father of his child is a police inspector named Rajbeer Singh!

This all happened when Tara was drifting aways from Dev’s obsessive behavior. She was already a loser in her career with a failed marriage. Tara lonely, heartbroken and was going through a very bad phase in her life. This is when she met Rajbeer. Rajbeer was totally the opposite of Dev, very charming, positive vibes, intelligent and yet very liberal. He was very good at impressing ladies. She could not help herself but to get attracted towards him knowing she is already married. This was to such an extent that she even hid the fact that she was married.

Rajbeer was always this flirtatious type guy in his hay days. Even though he was married, he never had any problem in handling extra marital affairs… during courtship and breakoffs. And the same happened in the case of Tara. He moved on and never had the slightest of the idea what was going to boomerang in his life.

Dev now decides to kill Tara, Rajbeer and the child! He kills Tara in a well-planned car accident. But when he tries to kill his son, who is 3 years old, he couldn’t. That child meant the world to him as he loved him so much. But the last sinner is still left… Rajbeer.

It was not easy for a normal educated person to kill someone that easily and that too when one is a cop. He started making plans as in how to kill Rajbeer. But during this, Dev is diagnosed with cancer. Now what! Who will take care of his son after him. Dev is in dilemma. He doesn’t have much time to live. What will happen to his son.

Dev knows that Rajbeer is the biological father of his son. But to hand over him his child will be the last thing Dev wants. However, as much as he is emotional, Dev is a practical and logical person too. For the betterment of his child, Dev decides to confront Rajbeer and hand him over the child before he dies.

But Dev is not dead yet, and nor he wants to forgive and forget what Rajbeer did to him. Dev decides to hand over his child but before that, he wants to make sure Rajbeer suffers as much as he can. He already knew by now about Rajbeer’s missing son. Using this, he makes a plan to break Rajbeer emotionally. Through someone, Dev made Rajbeer join his therapy and intentionally stretched his treatment so much so that he can watch Rajbeer in pain every day. And his plan worked.

Rajbeer comes to know all of this when he reaches to meet Tara’s husband and finds out that Tara’s husband is none other than Dr. Dev. And the child he kidnapped is in fact his child! A final confrontation between Dev and Rajbeer. A fight. And Dev’s death in the end.

Finally, Rajbeer brings Bobby to his home to start a new innings, new life and end the story on a happy note.

When Rajbeer thinks back… There were two people in Rajbeer’s life. One saying he already killed his son, the other claiming his son is alive. Rajbeer’s whole life was revolving round this question… who is lying and who is telling the truth. Anyone can easily say that one of them is surely the liar, but seldomly it happens that both of them are RIGHT!... the same time! Its just a matter of finding all facts, it’s just a matter understanding everyone’s perspective, and finally, it’s just a matter of seeing the unseen… ADRISHYA.
