Once the two 'P's - Pain & Patience bumped into each other. Soon, they had an argument on who is stronger and ended up challenging each other.

Pain (P1): I am stronger than you, patience. I can make anyone cry.

Patience (P2): You think you are but in reality, I am stronger than you. I can give the strength to withhold those tears escaping the eyes.

P1: Let's have a real competition then!

P2: Yeah, you will know the truth!

So, both of them travel around the earth and try to find a suitable target to put to test.

P1 sees a small kid playing in the park.

P1: Look at that kiddo playing in the park, let us try the challenge on him.

P2: Nope, he is too young for this. You should not put him through immense pain, even if you want to try winning this challenge; don't be so cruel.

P1: Huh! Someone is overconfident. Well, find someone else then.

They move ahead to find someone more appropriate. Soon they came across a bunch of young people.

P1: Here, choose yourself?

P2: Pointing towards a young, medium-built, black-haired with black eyes who was chilling in a pub with his gang, what about him?

P1: He seems immature, do you think he can handle me when he lacks you? Do you want to lose so easily without giving me a tough fight?

They both came to a point that they will choose somebody who is sensible, not too young and not too old, experienced so that they both could have a fair chance of winning. While they hunted for the right candidate, they heard a few people calling someone 'ironman'. They overheard the conversations about a man - how the man was as strong as iron and overcame each and every hurdle in his life with endurance and poise. They smirked at each other as they found their right candidate.

P2 was elated as he was already dwelling in a good and kind-hearted soul. So, he suggested pain to try and test him. P1 dived inside the salt-haired, aging man and started playing his antics.

The man was growing older yet he had the strong willpower and loads of mental strength to survive the odds. Pain lost the first round. Patience mocked at him and beamed with joy, doubling his power in the old man.

The pain got furious and increased his intensity in leaps and bounds. The old man was tormented by pain and he struggled to hold himself. But his mental strength backed his patience. He went through excruciating pain in various parts of his body one after another from the stomach, lower back to his shoulder and arms. Patience too kept doubling up his strength. Now, both were equal in their work as the poor man suffered.

Finally, the pain gave up and so did patience as none could no longer push themselves. A little after that, they regretted choosing him their target, when they saw a shady figure appearing from nowhere, as their deeds got the man 'the chosen one' by the Death Lord!
