A pilgrim's journey

A pilgrim's journey

On Diwali, as the numerous firecrackers burn and create glamor in the sky- the night canvas is filled with different colours of happiness. Among these big and small patterns are thousands of sky lanterns headed inc one direction. Guided by the wind, these trifles of light move together- like thousands of pilgrims onward on their journey to meet their Common God.

Though they appear small and light as feathers of the soft dove- they carry big responsibilities- that of fulfilling big dreams- and aspirations and thus- like little angels they fly! Onward to meet our God as mere messengers.

And as they fall back on Earth, diminished thus, one by one my heart wrenches to know what Big Orders they brought back from the heavens. Whether they were able to do their job, whether they met God.

These lanterns are ambitious- They try to take the space of the Great Celestial bodies that rule the sky. In their absence and the stars- the sky lanterns glow up the sky.

Lying about on the ground along with others litter-their value is lost- as soon as they fall back on the Mortal Land, just like me and you- innocent souls who lost all significance as soon as we were born here.

Remember, as you dust these burnt pieces of paper- they had Huge responsibilities and they now need rest- They need our Love.

No!! These are not ordinary Beings! They have been chosen by The Cosmos to travel afar- farther than we can imagine- and reach the Stars not in the sky- but in our thoughts. The Stars that were humans once but whose time was over and who lost their privilege of having a Life.

As the fuel vanishes and all our expectations with it- The Lantern loses its magical powers and the Night sky slowly reverts back to pitch dark.

My heart burns today like these cosmic beings. And my dreams fly high with them. Thoughts ignited- threatening to diminish the impossible.
