A day full of life without lights…..!!

Its was the day of rest, the day between Saturday to Monday ,the Sunday…! As always the sun was bright and early. The fiery ball of light rising up in horizon with its different shades of orange to yellow. Its glowing rays reach to my eyes , seeming like giving me a alarm call to wake up, but unlike other day I prefer to wake up late…I always preplan my routine for Sunday, which usually occupied with 70% of rest and left out time is left with roaming out or watching movies…However this Sunday was little dissimilar than other as our prime minister has declared Janta cerfew, which locked everyone in their houses. Supporting the decision I even decided to watch movies with my family , staying safe at home. We are small family of 4, with each having their personal mobile with full loaded net, so family with 4 mobiles and 8 network. Every evening all of us have a invisible “DO NOT DISTURB” board handing with us as our entire communication is restricted to social media, making us laugh loudly but lonely. Although the fact and forture are always different, the plan was completely demolish when I woke up.

When will u wake up , baffalo’s brother? I heard a call out from my wife..Whenever such sweet sound hit my ears I had always experienced something is fishy. With no excuse , I decided to leave my peace place(bed). She looked at me like a teacher who made her mind to rebuke the child. What the time? She asked …10:30 I replied softly. Soon she started bormbarding question on me “when u will be responsible?” ”don’t you have any responsiblitites todwards family”? I choose to remain silent with dilemma to know the exact matter. Soon the real irony came under light, there was absence of electricity since crack of dawn. Adding to the circumstances , maid was also on break due to cerfew which made my wife more annoyed. “I had planned to talk to my family today, but charging….” She exclaimed. We are also family I wish I could say but I knew to remain silent was a wiser decision as my single argument would surplus her anger. I kept listening like a dumb, as it had direct relation with my peace. Soon my daughter came to me complaining about electricity ,” when will lights came papa?” she asked. Before I could say anything my son came to me with the same issue , he wanted to attend some online lecture , which I rarely saw him to do. “let me call out GEB.” I said. The news came out was sorely disappointing. There was a break down of cable and non availability of staff, so electricity would not likely to come till late evening. Everyone looked at me as if I was a prime suspect for the entire crime. I decide to find a safe place to secure myself that was none other than bathroom. Having completed my day to day activities I choose a corner to sit and newspaper to hide my face. I could hear sound of vellan [for shaping bread]and utensils from kitchen and flag march of my children like attack of big fleet. Soon I saw my mobile which saw my poor face , it has stopped working. “ save yourself from corner” that what I read in newspaper and sooner realized that it was “corona”. May be the real vindication to read like this is today I myself has become a corner in my own house.

Soon it was lunch call from my wife, and I decided to join without any delay as today there were chances of “NO ENTRY” for late comers. Everyone on dinning table looked at me. Though I decided to remain silent and not to answer any question until asked similarly like a government servent. . In this trial allegation statement came from the great leader i.e my wife. Do you know how irresponsible your father is? Finally, the beginning statement was made without any base but more situational. I though decided to sharpen my ears ,not in mood to agrue . But after the hurl of various statements, there is always one arrow of light in dark which says happiness always comes after sadness. My daughter asked “what would u do in old times papa if such situation aries? Don’t u get bored?”.Though the question was sarcastic enough but I loved to answer as my heart was nostalgic pulling strings of my childhood memories. I replied “Beta! Those were the days when we lived in small street with big hearted people. Whole day we spent time playing so many outdoor games such as gulliDanda, Lakhoti, ice spice, Bhamarda, langadi and ofcourse Cricket. Even in evening when we would gather at vernda (a yard in fornt home), where we are having varieties of intramural games such as chess, snake and ladder ,ludo , Business, cards etc. Beyond that we had,hot gossips and political discussion. Ask your mother too what she used to do in her old golden days, I added. My wife soon went in her deep thought process recollecting her memories. She started,” I love to play chachuka”. “Chchuka??”, my daughter first time exclaimed a seed of tamarind, am I right? How one can play with chchuka? She asked. My wife explained the rules of games . “Oh! it is fascinating” my daughter smiled for first time,”You just gather we would definitely play some time.”she added. My wife shared more memories and games of her childhood. All are interesting, I also lost to play some of them like house with stone, Langadi, and sankh and chipla game. “Oh! so innovative pastime my son exclaimed, “ you are able to play with anything”. “Beta! you are also innovative you taught us to use whatsup ,facebook which you learned very fast, but only difference is that you are sharp at adopting the innovation though lacked to concentrate on creation. My children soon went in a deep thought.

Very soon the entire atmosphere changed , quarraling mode was switch off and everyone starting involving rather than complaining. My daughter made a statement “papa!in today world is full of gazets, it brings us closer. We have lots of friend all over the world , we connect through social media, Lots of web series to watch, Alexa to bring ease to our lives, technology has brought everything to our doorstep. Isn’t it great papa? Wouldn’t staying away from it would be like staying on island unknown from the developing times.? You are absolutely right baccha! I said “ but main issue of your generation is u are much dependent on resources rather than creating the resources. You all ran behind wrong competition, often forgetting small pleasure which life grants you. On that note I recall a story , during my school days we had a running competion which was a check for our physical strength as well as geographic knowledge. I wanted to win though I knew I was not a good runner so I decided to step otherways. I knew a tunnel beside the river of our school which would cut half of the distance, though the entire way was rocky, slippy loaded with cripy stones and big trees. I though entered there bravely , and my few friend also joined me having the same strategy. Moving through the rocky surfaces suddenly my leg slipped and I fell down . I noticed the blood shedding out of my leg making a difficult position for me to even stand.

I know I have completely lost the game as all my friend had gone far already , and I was left there all alone. Though assembling all my efforts I decided to rise and complete the race and not to give up. Somehow I managed to finish the endline. Having seen no one there I asked my sir”am I the first?”. He laughed loudly and said no child u are the last , race has already been completed half and hour ago. On seeing my current situation he decided to send me home and I was punished with 15 days bed rest due to dislocation by the doctor. I even was happy with the punishment as I don’t want to show my face in school as I was sure that every one will surely laugh at my pitty face. Two days later my friend came to see me and asked about the incidence of that day. While telling him the same we both laugh at the irony and I soon realized that if you could laugh at your own mistake the world can never defeat you!” I concluded. “Well said daddy!” my son exclaimed. Soon the time lapsed, in the eve our MODI KAKA has given us a task of diya lighting. Today everything seemed to be naturally lighted our lives as well as surrounding far away from feign(artificialness). Its seems like diya brings glory and new enthusiasm to our lives. Sooner the lights came into picture. We decided to celebrate one day in every month like this. Its was lovely ,winsome and memorable event to preserve.
