It seemed there was something unusual about it. The very fact I would see her whenever I needed to give away something. Was it some kind of debt that I was paying or was it some kind of a relationship I shared with her. These thoughts would come into Karan's mind.

He used to get back late from work almost every day. The day he was early he had some of the other social commitments to make. But whenever he was on his way back his eyes would instantly turn towards the footpath where she would be seen wrapped up in a torn tattered blanket or plastic bags cuddled up in a corner.

Whenever we returned from parties or just simple outings Karan would insist that we pack the extra unused food to give it to people who need it. Every time he would be looking for someone whom he could give it to, his car would stop near the lamppost where she lay. Being late at night he would not disturb her but would quietly keep the packet next to her.

This would happen always that now we need not look for anyone as we knew who anything would go. His friends and family would say what is it between you and her that makes you stop. The answer is not there but Karan had only one thing to say " life is a relationship you share with anyone who comes into it. So I have this one poor, old lady whom God has made to be looked after by me."
