A Bitter Truth

One day during Lockdown, Maahir was sitting in his bedroom alone. He was in deep thoughts while listening to the news. "Maahir bro, bro..." calls out Maahira but he was still lost in his thoughts. Then, she in her curiosity brought a glass of water and poured it on him. He angrily asked, What are you doing here and what is this all? She started weeping on the glimpse of his outraged face and ran away. The suspense is still in its own fold. The past nurtured it very carefully and he is realizing in this Quarantine.

Whenever Maahira looked Maahir coming near him she disappeared and hid somewhere. Maahira was only 7 years old and on the flip side, Maahir was of 15 years. She was very upset with her brother's rude behavior. Then suddenly, he got a chance to catch Maahira alone watching her favorite cartoon. On that day, the house was not populated with the family members. On seeing Maahir coming to her, she tried to rush but she can't. It may be her bad luck and or maybe good luck, who knows. This one scene made their bond stronger. He asked in a very sweet voice, "Do you want to listen to a story?" And she blurted yes very excitedly and swallowed her furiousness. He knows she is very keen to listen, and thus, started telling her a story related that folded past that is eating him from inside slowly day by day with the growing age of her sister. You know, there was a sweet Angel like you. Once, she was wedlock with a guy owing good looks. The boy unfolded his true shades after their marriage and tied an Angel in his house. She is not allowed to go out like us in this Pandemic time. In a similar way, she was forced to stay in four walls in isolation without complaining it to anyone. It is believed that it is her duty to listen to him like we are listening to our Prime Minister nowadays. He stopped, and Maahira asked him then? Maahir went again in his deep thoughts, and hardly spoke, she kept believing that my husband is right and it is for her good only. And she accepted the domain of the outside world is of men and women should remain in the domain of 'home'. She suddenly responded, Bro what is this men and women and these spaces? He took a deep sigh and told her not to learn these restricted boundaries. And left the story untold.
