Winter in Mumbai

Winter in Mumbai

Winter, for the people who live in my city is very different from the fantasy

I picture crisp white evenings and hot cocoa but I am slapped in the face by reality

Truthfully, a winter evening down here is anything but chilly

I could only wish I grew up somewhere that's cold and hilly

One doesn't need a thick blanket, and I keep the AC on

I can't related to movies about real winters with nights that run long

Maybe it's ridiculous to wish for the cold

But I'd like a white Christmas before I get old

Still, an evening of winter in plunge dresses is a privilege

And I'd rather be here than in any small town or village

I'd say rather like being winter-free sometimes, if I may be so bold

There's something to be said about pleasant weather and no frostbite, truth be told
