Winter Break

As winter knocks at our doors,

Short days and long nights for us, are in store.

Furrowing deep inside a blanket on a cold wintry morning,

Is an absolute guilty pleasure and truly heartwarming.

Foggy mists meander in the air through hazy sunlight,

Little tufts of smoke on the breath make a riveting sight! 

Winters means warm apple cider and bonfire nights,

With frost on the ground twinkling in the light.

Burning logs and roasting marshmallows,

Usher contented evenings and moods mellow. 

Sitting at the hearth watching the dancing flames,

Creates a picture worth capturing in a frame.

A white furry carpet spreads on the land,

A lone sentinel at night is the majestic snowman!

Playing with snowballs can happen only in winters,

The ice melting off our backs are its unique souvenirs.

The world hibernates in this season,

Everything shuts off for a very good reason.

Nature takes a break before 

life within it springs,

Rejuvenated, it bounces back to shake the lethargy of its limbs.
