Will I Learn?
Will I Learn?
You just landed here
With no warning or our invitation
You traveled so fast around the world
We have no clue what your intention is
However, we do understand it is not good
Totally unprepared, life has gone haywire
Mankind always sustained by supporting each other
But you have torn apart that delicate fabric
Everybody has become vulnerable
Leaving hardly anybody free of fear
You are impartial, though
Visiting all countries
All people of all religions, all castes,
All economic status
Nobody is sure of being spared
Having imagined nothing so unpredictable
Mankind has been challenged
Could something so tiny
Ruin the entire world
Affect the entire humanity
Cause so much of damage
To all that people struggled over the centuries to develop?
You have challenged our might
Our economic strength, military prowess, our intellect
Seems like you have come well prepared
To fully avenge all the harm that we caused overages,
And enable mother earth to breathe easily,
The forests to rejuvenate
The animals, birds, and insects to enjoy their freedom
The air to freshen up, the water to purify itself
But you know and I too know
That all your efforts will be defeated
When you think all is fine and call it quits
Because we will get back to our maddening lives
Forgetting all the beatings that we got from you
We have never learned lessons in the past
So do you think we will learn now?
Though the fear you have aroused in us is strong enough
To last our lifetime
I wonder what is it that will make mankind
Realize permanently that he is but a small speck of the Universe
And if he does not live in harmony with nature
He can go extinct in no time
Just as he is causing so many species to go extinct.
All his knowledge and intellect
Can easily be defeated by just a small virus
Which cannot even be seen with a naked eye!
