True Friends
True Friends
Hey! How did you know the world is not the same now?
You visited me after a long time
Woke me up with your sweet chirps
I woke up happy and ran into my garden
I see you there, along with your kith and kin
And a number of other friends
Fearlessly hoping from branch to branch
Among the lush green leaves
That shine after bathing in an overnight rain
Proudly displaying their flowers
Of different colors-
Splashing red, soothing white, bright yellow, pretty violet
All of you look very cheerful and carefree
Are you celebrating the newfound freedom
From the ugly, blaring noises
Of vehicles, machines, and gadgets
That we humans make early in the morning?
Where were you all these years
As we were submerged in a maddening rat race
Supposedly enjoying a comfortable life
With all our machines, gadgets and vehicles
Which hardly soothed our tired minds,
Little realizing the farce, the emptiness, the pain?
How can we ever be happy
In our artificial world of comforts
Without you all?
