What A War Cost?

What A War Cost?

It wasn’t long we were healing from Palestine,

Now I hear again those screams for mercy and bursting of mines.

I see the missiles flying in the sky,

People running without knowing where to hide.

The troops who were on holiday,

Are now being pulled out to block the enemy’s way.

Leaving emotions behind with the uniform of pride,

I hear their melancholic “goodbye”.

The old mom waving to her son,

Doubting she may not see him again.

Wife with tears rolling, holding husband’s hand

Doubting she may not get to hold them again.

The daughter packing some chocolates,

For dad not to starve on the way.

And the son sitting in the corner outstretching his fingers

From the window promising dad, he will keep the family safe.

I hear sobbing of the helpless citizens,

Roaming around losing all the wealth.

In frosty winter I see them warming hands,

Over the fire of their burning home and dreams.

I look around everywhere I see faces so confused about what happened,

Some are crying beside the dead members while some became a soul which is dead.

Everyone has got a story to tell but no one to listen,

“How their life changed, hanging between the politicians' bane.”

In the end, the leaders will shake hands,

But those martyrs won’t come back again.

The wife who became a widow and kid who became an orphan

And the millionaire who lost all his wealth,

Will actually tell you "What does a war cost at the end?"
