Do you remember the village fair
Where we first laid eyes on each other
Your smile, so enchanting and rare
I fell in love, and my heart did smother

I didn't know who you were at first
But I couldn't resist giving my heart to you
I left it there, in the midst of the burst
Of the bustling crowd, my love grew

Every year, the fair comes around
But you never seem to appear
But I hear in my ear from somewhere your melodious sound
And my eyes still search for you, my dear

As this year's fair begins today
I frantically search, in hopes of finding you
By some twist of fate, if you come my way
Remember, my eyes are still searching for you

We can't carve our own destiny
We can't always choose our way
But if we were to meet, just you and me
Perhaps we could make sense of this heart's sway

Some things in life are beyond our control
Some sweetness eludes our grasp
Dreams remain dreams, taking their toll
