To Not Love

Your love was hollow 

You told me that you can't love

But expected me to give 

I never faltered in my love 

But there was nothing for me 

To take in 

As everything I had 

You had slowly taken in 

What was the beginning 

What was the end 

When everything began with you 

And ended with me giving in 

Is it truly love? 

Love defined by the tug of a string 

Love, love, love 

I don't want to begin 

Or even give in 

I feel like I have begun to hate the word love

It only brings sacrifice and hurt

Is it truly love? 

A tug of war between two beings 

Is it meant for one to give and give 

Until the person on the other end slowly drags me in 

What a terrible thing is love 

I don't want to give in 

To love is to slowly lose yourself in someone else 

To not know of your own existence 

Why should I even give in 

Don't you dare take a hold of my heart 

Because I will not give in

I will not love, I will not give in 

If and only if the love comes where the other will not drag me in 

Will not tug my string 

Will not leave me small 

Will not take and take without giving in

Then I would like to be in that love 

To finally feel 

The warmness of love 

Rather than the empty coldness that is left in. 

But till then and only till then 

I am not willing to give in.
