The World Today

A place where every other day I see children begging on the streets,

Just to make ends meet.

They have no place to stay,

No place to eat.

So lost, so lonely,

Yet shouldering the responsibility of their families so well.

Helplessness and hard times they face every day,

That's the world for them today.

A place where every other day,

Female foeticide still takes place.

Yes, she's a girl,

Just a human being like you, like me.

Don't let her sex decide,

If she would be living or dead.

Narrow mentality and prejudice is what she's subjected to each day,

That's the world for her today.

A place where every other day,

A poor person tries their best to support their family.

No, they didn't succumb to their present condition,

They worked hard, fought back, just to earn a living.

Help them, 

Don't torment them for not matching your 'high standards'.

Hopeful for things to be better for life has much more to offer them,

That's the world for them today.

A place where humanity is hard to find these days,

Selfishness and greed taking over kindness mostly, always.

Cheating, 'faking it till you making it',

Is now becoming a common mantra for man these days.

You might have a handsome amount in your bank balance,

How would you deal with your cold hearted nature though?

Don't expect to get help when in need,

That's how mean and inhuman the world is becoming today.

A place where man is becoming,

The cause behind his destruction, himself.

A deadly virus,

Wiping off the population oh so quick!

Who would've thought?

Man's carelessness would lead to such a day,

When there would be a complete lockdown?

Lives were at a risk now, 

Constantly being threatened every now and then.

That's the world today.

A blessing in disguise,

For they are fighting openly, just to protect people like you and me.

Don't make things hard for them,

Cooperate, be patient enough, don't make them suffer because of your ignorance.

Let's fight this together,

Once and for all.

Alas! We are left with no other alternative,

But to accept the way we've transformed the world into a living Hell!

That's the world we're living in today.
