The World Of A Tortoise

The World Of A Tortoise

I see blue all over in the huge ocean

The water here is still but always in motion

I go where my feet take me

I have the wonders of world to see.

I am swimming all alone here

With not any of my kindred there

I have a long distance to cover

Before any one of my kind I discover.

With not any hare behind or ahead of me

I look all over yet not one competitor I see

I have heard that my ancestor won from hare long ago

I don’t compete with anyone now and go with flow.

I have a long distance to travel

To see the wonders of world unravel

Away from my parents and family

Alone in this vast ocean I swim happily.

The life ahead is long and full of struggle

I have to be careful to avoid trouble

Elders have told me that we have long life span

Than the lord of Earth, that is, the man.

I shall swim in the ocean and walk on earth

Enjoy the life for what it is worth

My enemies shall soon find

That attacking my shell is not the proper application of mind.

Ocean is vast and deep

I shall continue till it is time to sleep

Not very far from here is a forest and lake

I shall travel long distances till I am awake.
