The Wonderous Story of a Woman's Glory

The Wonderous Story of a Woman's Glory

‘Twas many and many a year ago,

In a land of exotic mysteries galore.

A king and queen did reign, just and fair,

But alas! No one to love and care.

An heir, aye, was all they wished for,

An heir, they got, who would rewrite lore.

The royal couple was ridiculed, taunted,

Whispered rumours, ear to ear, haunted.

For their child was no man, meant for fame,

But a female, no power vested in her name.

Instead, the kingdom fell into the hands of a tyrant,

A wicked man- cruel and so, so violent

The young princess, though, was willing to fight,

Fight bravely for the throne within her sights.

She was put down by people who never believed;

Oh how she strived to be perceived!

Years of struggle took its toll,

Yet nothing seemed to work at all.

Until the princess decided to do something different,

And pull off a miracle that might save her from her predicament.

The brave girl began a revolution,

Calling forward the citizens in a show of retribution.

The people of the kingdom adored the maiden,

And they willingly followed her lead, complete with determination.

The struggle saw light when the princess’s sword

Met the throat of the defiant king, who implored,

“My dear girl, why must it end like this, with my broken pride?”

To which our victorious princess magnanimously replied,

“Above all else, it’s my duty to love my land and my people,

You dare assume I will leave them to suffer under evil?”

“I am my nation, the nation is me.

I belong to the citizens and with me, they are free.”

And thus, she ruled, wise and profound,

A queen whose glory knew no bounds.
