The Tetrad
The Tetrad
This is the story of four friends
Braved the world, together they believed till the end
Rough on the surface, but within too deep
Shone a diamond, only theirs to keep
The first, with auburn hair,
Her bones were hollow but emblazoned in steel
Her fiery eyes remained reclusive
Entwined with her veins, defiance
The second, the most gallant of them all
Sky-high were her walls
Her treasure, the most precious of them all
For a golden heart lied where the shadows crawled
The third, the most ostentatious of them all
Her exterior tough to hide the broken wall
Encapsulated the others in such nescience
Perhaps herself she duped
The fourth, perhaps the queerest yet
She kept the three in check
Served her gifts on a platter
Tearing as the rest feasted
Quiet the fourth kept
Tensile strength kept her going
She was burned out
She had to flee
She ran far into the forest
Where no one knew her
She relished her anonymity
Joy came naturally
She only did one mistake
The light she exuded
Apart from her roots
Grew a new shadow
And it was hers to keep
Until she departed for a better world
