The Sous Chef’s Folly

Oye, get some peas from the storeroom, will you?” the fat chef yelled,

The hard-of-hearing sous’ chef instead got cheese which smelled,

The chef scolded,” I asked for PEAS not CHEESE!”

“What, you want lychees with grease! Geez!”

But the young chef went to the storeroom to spoil; And dipped the fresh and sweet lychees in OIL!

“Oh no, I had to plate them for the critic!”

“Huh? You want eight of them for the critic?”

And he plonked eight of the disgusting things in the bowl,

The despaired head chef said, “Don’t do that! That bowl was for the fish roll!”

“Come on, how can you put coal in a desert? But sure thing!”

And in the bowl went black, charred coal!

The waiter bustled in and saw that the bowl was filled to the brim,

He put a cloche on it and before the chef could stop him...

The dish was on the CRITIC’S TABLE!

The chef knew that now his job was unstable...:(
