The Parting Journey

The clock was ticking away,

As time drew near,

The parting journey was inevitable;

And, a shimmering emptiness prevailed in the air.

Caring hands rested upon her faithful breast,

For it was now time to say goodbye,

Her serenely divine face,

Was as beautiful as a single star shining in the sky.

Throughout her life,

She has sailed through ebbs and tides,

Little did she know,

That a grave illness would snatch away her willingness to fight.

She left behind her loved ones,

Who remained drenched in pain,

And would endure an irreparable loss,

Until they met again.

Her lavender perfume and midnight-black hair,

Were all a crescendo of love,

But now, she would remain caged in a photograph,

Smiling away to glory, only from above.

The stars were glowing like beacons,

For her departed soul would now begin a journey new,

They said she was in a hurry

To bid her boulevard adieu.
