The needy tree

The needy tree in the forest 

Strived towards the light 

The woodsman turned him into mince

He gave in without fight 

But being pulped and pounded 

He turned into sheets, white 

On which the poem was written 

And the needy tree found light 

The needy tree in the forest 

Strived for warmth and heat 

But he was buried underground 

And turned into some peat 

This was dug up , sent to a home 

To be burned upon the hearth 

Thus the needy tree at last 

Found himself some warmth 

The needy tree in the forest 

Wanted to shine and smile 

But he was left in the dark cold ground 

And stayed there a long while 

Till at last in sorrow 

He turned into a stone 

And in the beauties earrings 

Finally he shone
