The Murk

Write a tale and write it well,

I know now that not all is gonna sell.

Mine is this one for all of you ....

This morning I got a mail!

Read: ‘Hiring. Do you know brail?’

I was surprised. Why me of all?

Is it some spam or

A random interview call!

There was an attachment really large.

Downloaded it, a beautiful collage!

Titled: ‘Volunteers for the BLIND.’

It struck me: I know so many such with eyes.

Strolled down to the park,

Gazing at the calm footpath and the slums and

mothers comforting their children,

waking them from the bed.

Heard a wailing voice ahead,

 An old man dead.

Walked further, numb,

No one for his cremation!

And what bothers us is ‘Demonetisation’.

Reached home with a heavy heart,

Received a parcel from Flipkart!

My birthday gift from an old family friend.

Opened it hastily…

Who would say I was drained?

 It was beautiful. A black, silk stole!

Took it in my hands and felt its softness

And, it occurred to me,

It's so dark...

Darkness that I cannot make up for 

And, I remembered the morning mail ...

“Volunteers for the blind...do you know brail?”
