The Lone Coconut Tree
The Lone Coconut Tree
The coconut tree that sways
Has many roles to play
As a jack of all
I see it as a master of all.
Our thirsty tongues quenched with
It's seemly sweetness.
Its meat meets our taste buds
Filling the tummy as raw, cooked, or dried.
Oil cooked, or oil applied,
Benefits our health, skin, and hair.
Lits the wick and gels the hinges
One oil to run all smooth.
Thatching the roofs,
Kids play with the leaves as a pulling trolley.
The trunk bridging the gap
Crosses the canal all around.
Welcoming the guests
Sewn is the rope as everything
From mats to rugs to bags
Binds many effortlessly.
Eco friendly is the new name
For our ancestors has shown the way.
Scrubs, cutlery, brooms, pots, manure, and dust
As many ways of usage as we could.
The lone coconut tree in the backyard
Stands tall of us all,
Mighty it looks to me
As I bow to its humbleness.
