The Letter

There is a letter in my cupboard,

In the section which I have not touched since ages,

Since the time we last talked to each other.

The letter is still there inside a thick black diary,

Which once lay right in front,

But now lies behind all the planners,

The memos,

The Post-Its,

The To-do lists

And the schedulers.

They all help me keep track of my day,

But none keeps track of my heart.

The letter has turned yellow and the ink has become dull,

But the innocent love in the words

Still remains the same.

The nostalgia is still alive.

It reminds me of how in the middle of night,

I penned down every emotion that I had for you,

How I proofread every joke ten times before sending it to you,

How I became fan of your native state without ever visiting it,

How I lost track of time in your conversations.

With all my sweet gestures and naive love tightly held,

My letter was all set to reach you.

But before it could, your Facebook memory from past reached me.

"Just two more days. Can't wait to see you again. Missing you loads".

In next two days my worst fear became my reality.
