The Gift Of Life
The Gift Of Life
A welcome little flashback to my toddler days,
When I was lovingly cradled in my mother’s arms,
When holding my father’s helping hand
I took my first steps in the world.
An amusing little flashback to my student days,
The learning, the mischief and the total fun
When the joy of friendship and comraderie
Invaded my soul to last forever and ever.
A beautiful reminder that I am in my youth,
Where every moment is a blessing
An encouragement to work and climb up
The ladder of success,
To define the moments
Of love and happiness with my family.
A thoughtful fast forward to the future,
Will I have to use a stick for support,
Or will I be fit and healthy,
Will I be alone or will I be with loved ones,
When nothing is certain except
Advancing age and impending death.
A spot decision overtakes my thoughts.
No longer will I dwell on the past
Or mistrust the future,
But will live every present moment
As a gift of life.
