The Cadaver's Tale
The Cadaver's Tale
My hands once joined in prayer,
Now they lay open for you to learn.
My feet that once left footsteps,
Now show you your way, turn by turn.
My eyes that saw the world,
Now lay closed for you to observe.
As sharp and inquisitive my brain was,
Your knowledge is now the only purpose to serve.
Some of you work diligently,
Trying to learn every bit, every day.
Some of you just talk and laugh,
Others are simply scared away.
My heart is here, still and silent
With the sole motive of teaching you.
Before you disregard it, just remember.
It once did beat for someone too.
I died but I left my body on a slab,
So that someone under your scalpel pulls through.
Dissect me, learn from me, but just remember..
I was once just like you.
